You see the youths like tall palms... and what do you know of their inner substance?
خَرَجَ كَأَنَّهُ الرَّقْلُ، فِي يَدِهِ حِرْبَةٌ
He went out as if he were the 'raqla', with a spear in his hand.
حُزِيْتَ لِي بِحَزْمِ فَيْدَةَ تُهدَى ... كَاليَهُودِيِّ مِنْ نُطَاةِ الرِّقَالِ

وَالرَّاقُولُ: حَبْلٌ يُصْعَدُ بِهِ النَّخْلُ، فِي بَعْضِ اللُّغَاتِ، وَهُوَ الحَابُولُ، وَالكَرُّ
And the 'raqul': a rope by which one climbs date palms, in some languages, and it is the 'habul' and the 'karr'.
أَرْقَلَ: أَسْرَعَ، وَقَدْ أَرْقَلَتِ النَّاقَةُ، إِرْقَالًا

لأَنَّ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ أَعْطَاهُ الرَّايَةَ بِصِفِّينَ، فَكَانَ يُرْقِلُ بِهَا، أَيْ يُسْرِعُ
Because Ali, may God Almighty be pleased with him, gave him the banner at Siffin, and he would hasten with it, meaning he would speed.
وَأَبُو المِرْقَالِ: كُنْيَةُ الزُّفْيَانِ، وَهُوَ لَقَبٌ، وَاسْمُهُ عَطَاءُ بْنُ أَسِيدٍ

وَأَرْقَلُوا فِي الحَرْبِ: أَسْرَعُوا، وَهُوَ مَجَازٌ
And they hastened in war: they sped, and this is metaphorical.
فُلانٌ يُرْقِلُ فِي الأُمُورِ، وَهُوَ مِرْقَالٌ
So-and-so moves swiftly in matters and he is swift.
فَقَالَ: أَمَا إِنَّهُ لَوْ كَانَ غَيْرُكَ أَرْقَلَتْ ... إِلَيْهِ القَنَا بِالرَّاعِفَاتِ اللَّهَازِمِ

يَعْنِي الأَسِنَّةَ

فُرَاتٌ بَارِقْلَى ثَلاثَةُ أَسْمَاءٍ جُعِلَتْ اسْمًا وَاحِدًا، وَلَيْسَ لَهُ نَظِيرٌ
