And Ibn Al-A'rabi narrated it as: tantal, and in some versions: after feigning ignorance.
الثيتل: اسم جبل، وقيل: ماء قريب من النباج، لبني حمان، من تميم، قاله نصر.
Al-thaytal: the name of a mountain, and it is said: water near Al-Nabbaj, belonging to Banu Himman, from Tamim, Nasr said this.
ويوم ثيتل: من أيامهم، أغار فيه قيس بن عاصم المنقري، على بكر بن وائل، فاستباحهم.
And the Day of Thaytal: one of their days, Qays bin Asim Al-Munqari raided on it, against Bakr bin Wail, and plundered them.
علا قطنا بالشيم أيمن صوبه ... وأيسره على النباج وثيتل
Its right side rose over Qatna in Al-Shaym... and its left side was over Al-Nabbaj and Thaytal.
وروى غيره: على الستار فيذبل.
And others narrated: over Al-Sitar and in Yadhbul.
ورجل ثيتل: يقعد مع النساء، وأنشد ابن بري في رغل:
And a thaytal man: sits with women, and Ibn Bariy recited in Raghal:
فإني امرؤ من بني عامر ... وإنك دارية ثيتل
Indeed, I am a man from Banu Amir... And you are a knowing, thaytal one.
قال: والدارية: الذي يلزم داره.
He said: And Al-Dariyya: he who stays in his house.
وفي المحكم: الثيتل ضرب من الطيب، زعموا.
And in Al-Muhkam: Al-thaytal is a type of perfume, they claim.
