Ibn Brei said: It is a non-Arabic word that the Arabs have used, and it means: a place where animals stand, and its hamza is original, because additions do not attach to quadriliteral words from their beginnings except for names that follow the pattern of verbs, and this is further from the five [patterns]. And it was said: It is a Levantine dialect.
وقال أبو نخيلة: لولا أبو فضل ولولا فضله لسد باب لا يسنى قفله ومن صلاح راشد
And Abu Nakhila said: Were it not for Abu Fadl and his merit, the door whose lock is not doubled would be closed, and from the righteousness of Rashid.
