فقال: أكذاك هو، فلهو أحب إلي من رثيئة فثئت بسلالة من ماء ثغب في يوم ذي وديقة ترمض فيه الآجال.

So he said: Is it so? Then it is more beloved to me than a thick broth made from the essence of water from a spring on a day of intense heat where lives are consumed.

وقال أبو صاعد: الوديقة: الموضع فيه بقل أو عشب.

And Abu Sa'id said: Al-wadeeqah: a place with grass or herbage.

ويقال: حلوا) في وديقة منكرة.

And it is said: They camped in a terrible place with grass.

والودق بالفتح ويحرك عن كراع، وعليه اقتصر الصاغاني: نقط حمر تخرج في العين كما في العباب، زاد كراع: من دم تشرق به، أو لحمة تعظم فيها، أو مرض فيها ليس بالرمد ترم منه الأذن وتشتد منه حمرة العين، الواحدة بهاء.

وقد ودقت عينه، كوجل، تيدق، بكسر التاء، فهي ودقة كفرحة عن الأصمعي،

ومما يستدرك عليه: يقال: مارسنا بني فلان فما ودقوا لنا بشيء، أي: ما بذلوا، ومعناه: ما قربوا لنا شيئا من مأكول أو مشروب يدقون ودقا.

ويقال: إنه لوادق السنة، أي: كثير النوم في كل مكان، عن اللحياني.

And it is said: He is a wadiq of the year, meaning: sleeps a lot everywhere, from Al-Lihyani.

وقال الزمخشري: أي قريب النعاس نومة.

And Al-Zamakhshari said: Meaning, a nap close to sleep.
