كنت إذا أردت أن أفرق رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم صدمت الفرق على يافوخه
When I wanted to part the hair of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH), I would part the parting on his forehead.
فرق الشعر بالمشط يفرقه من حدي نصر وضرب فرقا: سرحه
He parted the hair with a comb, he parts it from the forms of Nasara and Daraba, with a Faraq: he smoothed it.

Al-Tiryaq Al-Farooq: the most excellent of antidotes and the most noble of compounds because it distinguishes between illness and health.

And the man became afraid from it, like faraha: he panicked.
وفرق عليه: فزع وأشفق
And he became afraid for him: he was frightened and compassionate.
ورجل وامرأة فاروقة وفروقة
And a man and a woman are Farooqah and Farooqah.
رب فروقة يدعى ليثا
Perhaps a timid one is called a lion.
والمفرق كمقعد ومجلس: وسط الرأس
And Al-Mafraq like Maq'ad and Majlis: the middle of the head.
وهو الذي يفرق فيه الشعر
And it is where the hair is parted.
والشيب في مفرقه وفرقه
And gray hair in his parting and his parting.
المفرق من الطريق: الموضع الذي يتشعب منه طريق آخر
Al-Mafraq of the road: the place from which another road branches off.
وقفته على مفارق الحديث
I stopped him at the junctions of the Hadith.
وفرق له الطريق فروقا بالضم، أي: اتجه له طريقان
And the road became clear for him with a Furooq, meaning: two paths became clear for him.
فرق لي رأي أي بدا وظهر
My opinion became clear, meaning it appeared and became evident.
وفرقت الناقة، أو الأتان تفرق فروقا بالضم: أخذها المخاض، فندت أي ذهبت نادة في الأرض
And the she-camel gave birth, or the she-ass gives birth with a Furooq, meaning: labor pains took her, and she went off wandering in the land.
فهي فارق كما في الصحاح، وفارقة أيضا كما في المفردات
So she is a Fariq as in Al-Sihah, and a Fariqah as well as in Al-Mufradat.
والفارق من الإبل: التي تفارق إلفها فتنتج وحدها
And Al-Fariq from the camels: the one that separates from her familiar companions and gives birth alone.
أو مزنة فارق يجلو غواربها
Or a separate cloud whose sides it clears.
والفرق، محركة: الصبح نفسه، أو فلقه
And Al-Faraq, with harakah: the dawn itself, or its breaking.
حتى إذا انشق عن إنسانه فرق هاديه في أخريات الليل منتصب
Until when its human form appeared, the dawn's guide stood erect in the late night.
لأنه فارق سواد الليل
Because it separates the darkness of the night.
أبين من فرق الصبح
Clearer than the breaking of dawn.
والفرق: تباعد ما بين الثنيتين
And Al-Faraq: the distance between the two incisors.
رجل أفرق: إذا كان في ثنيته انفراج
A man is Afraq: if there is a gap in his incisors.
والفرق: تباعد ما بين المنسمين
And Al-Faraq: the distance between the two nostrils.
بعير أفرق: بعيد ما بين المنسمين
A camel is Afraq: far between the nostrils.
والفرق في الخيل: إشراف إحدى الوركين على الأخرى
And Al-Faraq in horses: one hip overlapping the other.
فرس أفرق
A horse is Afraq.
والأفرق من الدواب: الذي إحدى حرقفتيه شاخصة، والأخرى مطمئنة
And Al-Afraq from the beasts: the one whose one hip bone is raised, and the other is lowered.
وديك أفرق بين الفرق: ذو عرفين للذي عرفه مفروق
And a rooster is Afraq between the two parts: having two combs for the one whose comb is separated.
ديك أفرق: انفرقت قنزعته
A rooster is Afraq: its crest is split.
رجل أفرق: كأن ناصيته أو لحيته كأنها مفروقة بين الفرق
A man is Afraq: as if his forelock or beard is as if parted between the parts.
وأرض فرقة، كفرحة: في نبتها فرق بالتحريك على النسب
And land is Firqah, like Farhah: in its vegetation there is Faraq (with harakah) by attribution.
نبت فرق، ككتف: صغير لم يغط الأرض
Vegetation is Faraq, like Katif: small and not covering the ground.
والأفرق: الديك الأبيض
And Al-Afraq: the white rooster.
والأفرق من ذكور الشاء: البعيد ما بين خصييه
And Al-Afraq from male sheep: far between his testicles.
والأفرق من الخيل: ذو خصية واحدة
And Al-Afraq from horses: having one testicle.
والأفرق: الأفلج
And Al-Afraq: the gap-toothed.
والفرقاء: الشاة البعيدة ما بين الطبيين
And Al-Farqaa: the ewe with wide teats.
فإن لا تكن بالشام داري مقيمة فإن بأجنادين مني ومسكن
If my dwelling is not in Sham, then it is in Ajnadayn and Masakin.
وأخرى بميافارقين فموزن
And another in Mayafariqin and Mawzan.
له فرق منه ينتجن حوله
