And Ibn Suḥūq: among the hadith scholars, and his name is Abdullah Ibn Ishaq, and there is nothing in this to indicate that Suḥūqah was his mother, and perhaps it is from belittling names, as they say to Muhammad: Ḥamūdah, and to Ahmad: Ḥamīdān and Ḥamad.

Abdullah bin Ishaq, a freedman of Ghāfiq, known as Ibn Suḥqūn, an Egyptian, narrated from Ḥarmalah, died in the year.

والسحوق من النخل، والحمر، والأتن: الطويلة، ج: سحق بالضم

والسحوق هي الجرداء الطويلة التي لا كرب لها

And the tall one is the bare, tall one that has no fronds.

وسالفة كسحوق الليا ... ن أضرم فيها الغوي السعر

And a neck like a tall, bare palm tree, in which the misguided one ignited the fire.

ومن الأمطار السحيفة بالفاء، وهي: المطرة العظيمة التي تجرف ما مرت به.

And among the rains is the saḥīfah with fa', and it is: the great rain that sweeps away what it passes by.

وأسحق الضرع: ذهب لبنه، وبلي ولصق بالبطن

And the udder became dry: its milk went away, it became withered and stuck to the belly.

حتى إذا يبست وأسحق حالق ... لم يبله إرضاعها وفطامها

Until it dried up and the udder became withered... its nursing and weaning did not benefit it.

وأسحق الله فلانا: أبعده من رحمته.

And may Allah make someone distant: may He distance him from His mercy.

وانسحق: اتسع ومنه المنسحق للمتسع

And it became wide: it became spacious, and from it is al-munsahiq for the spacious.

حتى إذا أقحمها في المنسحق ... وانحسرت عنها شقاب المختنق

Until he drove them into the spaciousness... and the suffocating constriction cleared from them.

فانسحقت خلافة بني العباس في زمانه، وانهدمت قبة المنصور الخضراء التي كان بها فخرهم

So the Abbasid Caliphate was crushed in his time, and Al-Mansur's Green Dome, which was their pride, was demolished.
