وقد خزق يخزق خزقا، وخزوقا: أصاب الرمية، عن ابن سيده، وكذلك خسق، ومنه قول الحسن البصري: لا تأكل من صيد المعراض إلا أن يخزق.

معناه: ينفذ ويسيل الدم، لأنه ربما قتل بعرضه، ولا يجوز.
Its meaning: it penetrates and the blood flows, because it might kill by striking its side, and that is not permissible.
ومن المجاز: خزق الطائر: إذا فرق عن ابن دريد.
And from metaphor: the bird pierced: if it scattered, according to Ibn Durayd.
يا خزاق أقبلي، كقطام: شتم من الخزق معدول عنه: اللذرق.
O Khazzāq, come forward, like Qattām: an insult derived from al-khazq, deviated from: al-ladhraq.
ويقال: إنه لخازق ورقة: إذا كان لا يطمع فيه عن ابن الأعرابي أو يضرب مثلا لمن كان جريئا حاذقا.
And it is said: he is a khāziq waraqah: if he is not coveted, according to Ibn Al-A'rabi, or it is a simile for someone who is bold and skillful.
ويقال أيضا: يوشك أن يلقى خازق ورقة.
And it is also said: he is about to encounter a khāziq waraqah.
وناقة خزوق: تخزق الأرض بمناسمها فتؤثر فيها أو إذا مشت انقلب منسمها فخد في الأرض: أي أثر فيها.
And a khazūq she-camel: she pierces the ground with her hooves, leaving an impression, or when she walks, her hoof turns and digs into the ground: meaning it leaves a mark.
وقال الليث: المخزق، كمنبر: عويد في طرفه مسمار محدد يكون عند بياع البسر بالنوى، وله مخازق كثيرة فيأتيه الصبي بالنوى، فيأخذه منه، ويشرط له كذا وكذا ضربة بالمخزق، فما انتظم له من البسر فهو له، قل أو كثر، وإن أخطأ فلا شيء له، وقد ذهب نواه.
And Al-Layth said: Al-makhzaq, like minbar: a small stick with a sharp nail at its end, found with a seller of unripe dates with pits. He has many makhzaqs. A boy comes to him with pits, takes them from him, and stipulates so-and-so many strikes with the makhzaq. Whatever dates he gets are his, few or many. If he misses, he gets nothing, and his pits are gone.
والخيزقة: بقلة جمعها، خيزق.
And al-khayzaqah: an herb, its plural is khayzaq.
وانخزق السيف: انسل وفي نسخة اختزق.
And the sword slipped out: it became dislodged. In another version: it was picked.
خزقهم بالنبل خزقا: أصابهم به، نقله الجوهري والصاغاني.

وخزقه بعينه: حددها إليه، ورماه بها، عن اللحياني، وقال ابن عباد والزمخشري: أي: حدجة بها، وهو مجاز.
And he pierced him with his eye: he directed it towards him, and shot it at him, according to Al-Lihyani. Ibn Abbad and Al-Zamakhshari said: meaning, he stared intently at it, which is metaphorical.

وخزاق، كغراب: اسم قرية من قرى راوند، عن ابن برى، وقال ابن خلكان في ترجمة أبي الحسين أحمد بن يحيى، الراوندي: إنها مجاورة لقم، وأنشد ابن برى للشاعر: (ألم تعلما مالي براوند كلها ... ولا بخزاق من صديق سواكما.).
And Khazzāq, like ghurāb: the name of a village in the villages of Rayy, according to Ibn Barrī. Ibn Khallikān said in the biography of Abu Al-Husayn Ahmad bin Yahya Al-Rāwandi: it is adjacent to Qum. Ibn Barrī recited to the poet: (Do you not know that I have nothing in all of Rayy... nor in Khazzāq of friends besides you two.).
وقد أهمله أئمة الأنساب.
And the genealogists have neglected it.
