Jābalq, with fath on the bā' and lām, is how Abū Hāshim recorded it. Al-Jawharī omitted it, and Al-Azhari said: It is in the East, and Jābalṣ is in the West; there is no human beyond them.
It is narrated from Al-Hasan ibn Ali, may God be pleased with them, that he mentioned a hadith in which these two cities were mentioned, and it was previously discussed under Jābalṣ.
And the hadith to which Al-Azhari referred is what Al-Layth said: It reached us that Mu'awiyah asked Al-Hasan ibn Ali, may God be pleased with them, to address the people. Mu'awiyah thought that he would be tongue-tied and fall in estimation of the people due to his youth.
So Al-Hasan, may God be pleased with him, ascended the pulpit, praised God and lauded Him, then said: O people, if you were to seek among those between Jābalq and Jābalṣ a man whose grandfather was a prophet, you would not find him other than me and my brother.

And he, may God be pleased with him, gestured with his hand towards Mu'awiyah.
