We spent the night drinking cool water, and the bedbugs spent the night biting us, feeling refreshed by the cool water as if no one else was in the valley.

O inhabitants of the water, there is no kindness with you, but your harm comes to us morning and evening.

Buqqah: A place near al-Hira, or near Hit in Iraq, where Judhaymah al-Abrash was.

Why do I see you so talkative? What will happen to you when they expel you from the city?
ورجل لَقْلاق بَقْبَاق وكذا فَقْفَاق وذَقْذَاق وثرثار وبربار، كل ذلك أي: مكثار هذر
