وقال أبو زيد: لم تأبق: لم تبعد، أخذه من إباق العبد
And Abu Zayd said: She did not go far, meaning she did not distance herself, taking it from the absconding of the slave.
وقيل: لم تستخف، أي: قالت علانية
And it was said: She did not speak lightly, meaning: she spoke openly.
قال بعضهم: يقال للرجل: إن فيك كذا، فيقول: أما والله ما أتأبق، أي: ما أنكر
Some of them said: It is said to a man: You have such-and-such, and he says: By Allah, I do not deny it, meaning: I do not reject it.
ويقال: يا ابن فلانة، فيقول: ما أتأبق منها، أي: ما أنكرها
And it is said: O son of so-and-so, and he says: I do not disavow it, meaning: I do not deny it.
تأبقت الناقة: حبست لبنها
The she-camel withheld her milk: she held back her milk.
وقال ثعلب: هو الكتان
And Tha'lab said: It is flax.
