وقرأت في جمهرة الأنساب لأبي عبيد ما نصه: وذو جدن اسمه عبس بن الحارث من ولده علقمة بن شراحيل، وهو ذو قيفان كن ملك البون، والبون: مدينة لهمدان
And I read in the Jamharat Al-Ansab of Abu Ubayd what he stated: And Dhu Jadan, his name is Abs bin Al-Harith, and from his offspring is Alqamah bin Shurahil, and he is Dhu Qayfan, king of Al-Bun, and Al-Bun is a city of Hamdan.

He was killed by Zayd bin Murab Al-Hamdani, the grandfather of Sa'id bin Qays bin Zayd.
وملك بعده مرثد بن علس الذي أتاه امرؤ القيس يستمده على بني أسد
And after him ruled Marthad bin Alas, to whom Imru' al-Qays came seeking aid against Banu Asad.
وفي ذي قيفان يقول عمرو ابن معد كرب رضي الله عنه: (وسيف لابن ذي قيفان عندي ... تخيره الفتى من قوم عاد)
And about Dhu Qayfan, Amr bin Ma'd Karib, may Allah be pleased with him, said: (And a sword belonging to the son of Dhu Qayfan is with me... chosen by the young man from the people of Ad).
