The skin contracted; Al-Jawhari neglected it, and Al-Layth said: it means to withdraw, like اِقْفَعَلَّ.
وَاقْلَعَفَتْ أَنَامِلُهُ: إِذَا تَشَنَّجَتْ مِنْ بَرْدٍ أَوْ كِبَرٍ كاقْفَعَلَّتْ.
And his fingers contracted: if they spasmed from cold or old age, like اِقْفَعَلَّتْ.
وَقَالَ اللَّيْثُ: البَعِيرُ يَقْلَعِفُ: إِذَا انْضَمَّ إِلَى النَّاقَةِ حِينَ الضِّرَابِ، وَصَارَ عَلَى عَرْقُوبَيْهِ، وَهُوَ فِي ضِرَابِهِ وَهَذَا لَا يُقْلَبُ.
And Al-Layth said: The camel contracts (mounts): if it joins the female camel during mating, and positions itself on its hocks, and it is in its mating posture, and this is not reversed.
وَقَالَ ابْنُ شُمَيْلٍ: المُتَقَلْعِفُ: الرَّاكِبُ عَلَى مَرْكَبٍ غَيْرِ وَطْءٍ.
And Ibn Shumayl said: The مُتَقَلْعِفُ: is the rider on an unstable mount.
إِذَا مَدَدْتَ شَيْئًا ثُمَّ أَرْسَلْتَهُ فَانْضَمَّ قِيلَ: اقلعف.
If you stretched something and then released it and it contracted, it is said: اقلعف.
