And she is the mother of Muḥammad ibn 'Alī ibn Abī Ṭālib, may God have mercy on him, and for this reason he is known as Ibn Al-Ḥanafiyyah.

And Sahl and 'Uthmān, sons of Ḥanīf ibn Wāhib Al-Awsī. As for Sahl, he witnessed Badr and performed excellently on the day of Uhud and stood firm in it. As for 'Uthmān, he witnessed Uhud as well and what came after it, surveyed the black lands of Iraq, levied its tribute for 'Umar, and governed Basra for 'Alī, and lived until the time of Mu'āwiyah: Companions, may God be pleased with them.
وأبو حنيفة: كنية عشرين رجلا من الفقهاء، أشهرهم إمام الفقهاء، وفقيه العلماء، النعمان بن ثابت بن زوطى الكوفي، صاحب المذهب، رضي الله تعالى عنه وأرضاه عنا
And Abu Ḥanīfah: a kunya for twenty men among the jurists, the most famous of whom is the Imam of the jurists, the jurist of the scholars, Nu'mān ibn Thābit ibn Zūṭā Al-Kūfī, the master of the school of thought, may God Almighty be pleased with him and accept him from us.
وتحنف: عمل عمل الحنيفية، نقله الجوهري، يعني شريعة إبراهيم عليه السلام، وهيملة الإسلام
And 'taḥannafa': he acted according to the Ḥanifiyyah, as narrated by Al-Jawharī, meaning the law of Abraham, peace be upon him, and the practice of Islam.
وفي الحديث: بعثت بالحنيفية السمحة السهلة
And in the hadith: 'I was sent with the tolerant, easy, simple Ḥanifiyyah'.
وفي حديث ابن عباس: سئل رسولث الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: أي الأديان أحب إليك قال: الحنيفية السمحة، يعني شريعة إبراهيم عليه السلام، لأنه تحنف عن الأديان، ومال إلى الحق
And in the hadith of Ibn 'Abbās: The Messenger of God, peace be upon him, was asked: 'Which religion is most beloved to you?' He said: 'The tolerant Ḥanifiyyah', meaning the law of Abraham, peace be upon him, because he inclined away from [other] religions and towards the truth.
أو تحنف: اختتن، أو اعتزل عبادة الأصنام، وتعبد، نقله الجوهري
Or 'taḥannafa': he was circumcised, or he renounced idol worship and worshipped [God], as narrated by Al-Jawharī.
وتحنف فلان إليه: إذا مال.
And 'taḥannafa' so-and-so towards him: if he inclined.
وحسب حنيف، أي: حديث إسلامي لا قديم له
And 'ḥasab ḥanīf', meaning: a recent lineage of Islam, not an ancient one.
