والهجيع، من الليل، كأمير: الطائفة منه، كالهزيع
And al-hajīʿ, from the night, like amīr: a portion of it, like al-hazīʿ.
والهجع والهجعة، بكسرهما، وهجع، كصرد، وهجع، مثل: كتف، والمهجع، كمنبر: نقل الجوهري منها الثالثة والخامسة: الغافل عما يراد به، الأحمق
And al-hajaʿ and al-hajʿah (with kasra), and hajiʿ like ṣurad, and hajiʿ like katif, and al-mahjaʿ like minbar: Al-Jauhari narrated from them the third and fifth: the heedless of what is intended for him, the foolish.

وهو رجل هجع: يستنيم إلى كل أحد
And he is a hajiʿ man: he trusts everyone.
وهجع الطعام جوعه: كسره
And hajiʿ food broke his hunger: it lessened it.
فهجع جوعه، أي انكسر
So his hunger was broken, meaning it was alleviated.
وطريق تهجع، كتمنع: واسع
And a tahjaʿ road, like tamanaʿ: wide.
وركب الرجل هجاع، كقطام: أي: ركب رأسه
And the man rode recklessly, like qaṭṭām: meaning, he charged headlong.
وقد ركبوا على لومي هجاع
And they charged recklessly at my blame.
ونساء هجع، وهجوع، وهواجع، وهواجعات: جمع الجمع
And women (hujʿ), and (hujūʿ), and hawājiʿ, and hawājiʿāt: a plural of plural.
وهجع القوم تهجيعا: ناموا
And the people slept (tahjīʿan): they slept.
وطرقني بعد هجع من الليل، وهجعة منه، أي: طائفة منه
And it came to me after a portion of the night, and a portion of it, meaning: a segment of it.
وأتيت فلانا بعد هجعة، أي: بعد نومة خفيفة من أول الليل
And I came to so-and-so after a nap, meaning: after a light sleep from the beginning of the night.
والهجعة، بالكسر، من الهجوع، كالجلسة من الجلوس
And al-hajʿah (with kasra), from al-hujūʿ, like al-jalsah from al-julūs.
ورجل هجعة، كهمزة: أحمق غافل
And a hajʿah man, like hamzah: foolish and heedless.
ويقال: هجعت إليه فخدعني، وهو مجاز
And it is said: I was heedless towards him and he deceived me, and it is a metaphor.
