And Ibn Al-A'rabi said: Al-laa'ah: the strong-hearted, noble woman.
وقال غيره: اللاعة واللعة: هي المليحة تديم نظرك إليها من جمالها
And others said: Al-laa'ah and al-la'ah: she is the beautiful one who keeps your gaze upon her due to her beauty.
وقيل: مليحة بعيدة من الريبة.
And it was said: beautiful and distant from suspicion.
ولاعته الشمس ولاحته: غيرت لونه: كألاعته.
The sun affected him and changed his color: like it scorched him.
واللوعة واللعوة على القلب: السواد حول حلمة ثدي المرأة
And al-law'ah and al-law'wah on the heart: the blackness around the nipple of a woman's breast.
وقال الأزهري: هما لثغتان
And Al-Azhari said: they are two dark spots.
وقال ابن الأعرابي ألواع الثدي: جمع لوع، وهو: السواد الذي على الثدي
And Ibn Al-A'rabi said: Al-waa' al-thady: plural of law', which is: the blackness on the breast.
بلوع ثدي كأنف الكلب دماع
With dark spots on the breast like the tearful nose of a dog.
كاللولع، كجوهر، وهذه عن ابن عباد.
Like al-lawal', like jawhar, and this is from Ibn 'Abbad.
وقد ألاع ثديها وألعى: إذا تغير
And her breasts became dark and changed color: if they changed.
والالتياع: الاحتراق من الهم، كما في العباب، وفي الصحاح: من الشوق.
And al-iltiyaa': burning from worry, as in Al-'Ubab, and in Al-Sihah: from longing.
وهو مطاوع لاعه فالتاع.
And it is the passive of 'he afflicted him, so he was afflicted'.
اللاعة: ما يجده الإنسان لولده أو حميمه من الحرقة وشدة الحب
Al-laa'ah: what a person finds for his child or close friend of burning and intense love.
ومنه حديث ابن مسعود: إني لأجد له من اللاعة ما أجد لولدي.
And from it is the hadith of Ibn Mas'ud: I find for him from the burning pain what I find for my child.
ولاع الرجل: احترق فؤاده من هم أو شوق، وقد لاعه الشوق.
And the man's heart burned from worry or longing, and longing afflicted him.
ولوعه تلويعا، فهو ملوع، وهذه عامية.
