And Al-Qa'qa', like 'uqqud: the magpie.

وقعيقعان، كزعيفران: جبل بالأهواز في حجارته رخاوة
Wa-Qa'yqi'aan, like Zu'ayfaraan: a mountain in Ahwaz with soft stone in its rocks.
تنحت منها الأساطين جامع البصرة
Pillars are carved from it, the جامع of Basra.
وقعيقعان: ة، بها ماء وزروع، على اثني عشر ميلا من مكة

Wa-qa'a'ahu, like madahu: to speak boldly to him.
والقعقعة: حكاية صوت السلاح ونحوه
And Al-Qa'qa'ah: the imitation of the sound of weapons and the like.
والقعقعة: صريف الأسنان لشدة وقعها في الأكل
And Al-Qa'qa'ah: the grinding of teeth due to their intensity in eating.
شر النساء السلفعة، التي تسمع لأسنانها قعقعة
The worst of women is Al-Salfa'ah, whose teeth are heard grinding.

It is said: Qa'qa'ahu, and taqaqqa'a bihi qa'qa'atan.

The imitation of the movement of something that makes a sound.
وقيل هو تحريك الشيء اليابس الصلب مع صوت
And it was said to be shaking a dry, hard thing with sound.
والقعقعة أيضا: طرد الثور بقع بفتحهما
And Al-Qa'qa'ah also: driving away the bull with 'aq' 'aq' (with both fatha).
وقد قعقع به طرده
And he drove him away by qa'qa'ah.
والقعقعة: إجالة القداح في الميسر
And Al-Qa'qa'ah: shaking the arrows in the game of chance.
بقدحين فازا من قداح المقعقع
With two arrows that won from the arrows of the migh'aqa'.
والقعقعة: الذهاب في الأرض

والقعاقع: تتابع أصوات الرعد
And Al-Qa'qa'i': the succession of thunder sounds.
قعقعت عمدهم، وتقعقعت: ارتحلوا واحتملوا عن بلد كانوا نزولا فيه
Qa'qa'at 'umuduhum, and taqaqqa'at: they departed and moved from a land where they were settled.
فأصبحنا وكل هوى إليكم ... تقعقع نحو أرضكثم عمادي
And we woke up, and all desire is towards you... rattling towards your land, then my pillar.
من يجتمع تتقعقع عمده
Whoever gathers, his tent poles will rattle.
وطريق متقعقع وقعقاع: بعيد يحتاج السائر فيه إلى الجد
And a mutaq'aqqi' and qa'qa' road: distant, requiring the traveler to exert effort.
عمل قوائمها على متقعقع ... عتب المراقب خارج متنشر
Its legs work on a difficult path... the watcher's threshold is outside, spread out.
وتقعقع الشيء: اضطرب وتحرك
And taqaqqa'a al-shay': it was disturbed and moved.
فجيء بالصبي ونفسه تقعقع
So the child was brought, and his soul was rattling.
وتقعقع الأديم والسلاح ونحوهما: تحرك
And taqaqqa'a al-adeem and al-silah and the like: it moved.
إذا القشع من برد الشتاء تقعقعا
When the rough part of winter's cold rattled.
أقعت البئر إقعاعا: جاءت بماء قعاع
The well 'aq'a'at' 'iqaa'an: it yielded bitter/salty water.
وقعقعت القارورة وزعزعتها: إذا أزغت نزع ضمامها من رأسها
Wa-qa'qa'at the bottle and shook it: if it tilted, its stopper was removed from its head.

وتقعقع بنا الزمان تقعقعا، وذلك من قلة الخير، وجور السلطان، وضيق السعر
And time rattled us with rattling, and that is from scarcity of good, injustice of rulers, and tightness of prices.

And a qa'qa' waterskin: strong, with no shaking or slackness.
وكذلك خمس قعقاع، وحثحات: إذا كان بعيدا، والسير فيه متعبا لا وتيره فيه
And likewise five qa'qa', and hath-hathat: if it is distant, and the journey in it is tiring with no slackness.
