The agent takes a mature cow for the forty, and a young bull for the thirty. Then the one who gave the mature cow gets back three-sevenths of its value from his partner, and the one who gave the young bull gets back four-sevenths of its value from his partner, because each of the cows has a share in the common property, as if the wealth were owned by one person.

بم كثرت أموالكم فقالوا: أوصانا أبونا بالنجع والرجع

How did your wealth increase? They said: Our father advised us to seek pasture and profitable trade.

والرجع: أن يبيع الذكور ويشتري الإناث، كأنه مصدر

And 'al-raj': is selling males and buying females, as if it were a masdar.

والراجعة: الناقة تباع ويشترى بثمنها مثلها، فالثانية راجعة ورجيعة
