ذعذع المال وغيره: بدده.
To scatter wealth and other things: to disperse them.
قيل: حركه وفرقه.
It is said: to move and to scatter them.
ذعذعهم الدهر: فرقهم.
Time scattered them: it dispersed them.
ما فعلت بإبلك وكانت له إبل كثيرة، فقال: ذعذعتها النوائب، وفرقتها الحقوق، فقال: ذلك خير سبلها، أي خير ما خرجت فيه.
What did you do with your camels, and he had many camels, and he said: Calamities scattered them, and obligations dispersed them, and he said: That is the best way for them to go, meaning the best in which they were spent.
فتذعذع، أي تبدد وتفرق.
And so it scattered, meaning it dispersed and separated.
وأصل الذعذعة بمعنى التفريق، من ذعذع السر ذعذعة، أو الخبر، أي أذاعه، فلما كرر استعمل، كما قالوا من إناخة البعير: نخنخ بعيره فتنخنخ.
The origin of 'dha'dha'ah' is in the meaning of scattering, from scattering a secret, or news, meaning to divulge it, and when repeated it was used, as they said about making a camel kneel: he made his camel kneel, and it knelt.
وذعذعت الريح الشجر: حركته تحريكا شديدا، عن ابن دريد، وكذلك ذعذعت الريح التراب، إذا ذرته وسفته، كل ذلك معناه واحد.
And the wind scattered the trees: it moved them intensely, according to Ibn Duraid, and likewise the wind scattered the dust, if it blew it away and swept it, all of that has one meaning.
غشيت لها منازل مقويات ... تذعذعها مذعذعة حنون
I covered for her strong dwellings... scattered by a scattering, gentle one.
والذعاع، كسحاب: الفرق الواحد ذعاعة كسحابة، كما في الصحاح.
And 'al-dha'a'a', like 'sahab': the singular is 'dha'a'ah', like 'sahabah', as in Al-Sihah.
الذعاعة من النخل: رديئه، وهو ما تفرق منه، كذعاذعه.
The 'dha'a'ah' of dates: its inferior ones, which is what scatters from it, like its scattered parts.
في ذعاع النخل تجترمه
In the scattered dates, he harvests it.
يقال: الذعاع: ما بين النخلة إلى النخلة ويضم، ومنهم من جعل إهمال الدال لغة، وقد تقدم ذلك.
It is said: 'Al-dha'a'a' is what is between one palm tree and another, and it is contracted. Some made the omission of the 'd' a dialect, and that has been mentioned before.
ورجل ذعذاع: مذياع للسر نمام، لا يكتم السر من ذعذعة السر: إذاعته.
And a 'dha'dha'' man: one who spreads secrets, a talebearer, does not keep secrets from the scattering of a secret: its divulgence.
لا يحبنا أهل البيت المذعذع.
The people of the house do not love us, the illegitimate one.
قالوا: وما المذعذع قال: ولد الزنا.
They said: And what is 'al-mudha'dha''? He said: The child of fornication.
تفرقوا ذعاذع، أي ها هنا، وها هنا.
They scattered 'dha'dha'' (in all directions), meaning here, and here.
تذعذع البناء: تفرقت أجزاؤه، قاله ابن بري.
The building scattered: its parts dispersed, said Ibn Birri.
بادت وأمسى خيمها تذعذعا
They perished and their tents became scattered.
وتذعذع شعره: إذا تشعث وتمرط.
And his hair scattered: if it became disheveled and fell out.
