And Al-Layth said: 'Adla'ahu is a rare, but eloquent, variant. So he protruded, like 'mana'a' and 'nasara', with 'dala'an' and 'dulu'an'. In it is a structured arrangement and presentation. It is transitive and intransitive. It is like your saying: I made the man return with 'raj'an', and he returned with 'ruju'an'. Al-Layth said: meaning it came out of the mouth, relaxed, and fell onto the chin, like a dog's tongue.

وفي الحديث: يبعث شاهد الزور يوم القيامة مدلعا لسانه في النار

And in the Hadith: The false witness will be resurrected on the Day of Resurrection with his tongue protruding in the Fire.

وجاء في الأثر عن بلعم إن الله لعنه، فأدلع لسانه، فسقطت أسلته على صدره، فبقيت كذلك

And it came in the tradition about Bala'am that God cursed him, so he protruded his tongue, and its tip fell onto his chest, and it remained so.

And his belly protruded: it came out in front of him, as in Al-Sihah.

وقال نصير فيما روى له أبو تراب: اندلع بطن المرأة، اندلق: إذا عظم واسترخى.

And Naseer said, as narrated to him by Abu Turab: The woman's belly protruded, it bulged: if it became large and relaxed.

ومن المجاز: اندلع السيف من غمده: انسل كاندلق.

And from the metaphors: The sword protruded from its sheath: it slid out like it slid out.

وروي أن سعدا رضي الله عنه رمى أبا سعد بن أبي طلحة فأصاب حنجرته، فاندلع لسانه، كاندلاع لسان الكلب.

And it was narrated that Sa'd, may God be pleased with him, threw at Abu Sa'd bin Abi Talha and hit his throat, so his tongue protruded, like the protrusion of a dog's tongue.

And Abu 'Amr said: Al-dawla'ah: a coiled seashell, when touched by the heat of fire, a fingernail-like projection emerges from it, which can be pulled out like a finger's length. This is the nail found in the 'qist'. And he recited for Al-Shamardal: A dawla'ah she extracts with her fingernail.

And Al-Dawla'iyyah: a village, near Mosul, one stage from it on the road to Nisibis, from it is 'Abd al-Malik bin Zayd the jurist Al-Dawla'i.

وقال الهجيمي: أحمق دالع: غاية في الحمق، وهو الذي لا يزال دالع اللسان.

And Al-Hujaymi said: A foolish 'daali': the extreme of foolishness, and it is one who constantly protrudes his tongue.

وأمر دالع: ليس دونه شيء.
