وله حصنني ربي من كل بضع تعني النبي) صلى الله عليه وسلم، أي من كل نكاح، وكان تزوجها بكرا من بين نسائه.
And 'My Lord protected me from every marriage', meaning the Prophet, peace be upon him, meaning from every marriage, and he had married her as a virgin among his wives.
أو البضع: الفرج نفسه، نقله الأزهري، ومنه الحديث عتق بضعك فاختاري أي صار فرجك بالعتق حرا فاختاري الثبات على زوجك أو مفارقته.
Or al-biḍʿ: the vulva itself, narrated by Al-Azharī, and from it is the hadith: 'Your vulva is freed, so choose', meaning your vulva became free with emancipation, so choose to remain with your husband or to leave him.

يقال له: بضعة وعشرون رجلا، وبضع وعشرون امرأة، وهو لكل جماعة تكون دون عقدين.
It is said for him: 'bithʿatun wa ʿishrūna' men, and 'bithʿa wa ʿishrūna' women, and it is for any group that is less than two contracts.

وإنما صار مبهما لأنه بمعنى القطعة، والقطعة، غير محدودة.

والبضعة: القطعة من اللحم، هذه بالفتح وأخوتها بالكسر مثل القطعة، والفلذة، والفدرة، والكسفة والخرقة، وما لا يحصى، ونقل الصاغاني مثل ذلك، ومثل البضعة الهبرة فإنه أيضا بالفتح.
And al-biḍʿah: a piece of flesh, this is with fatha and its sisters with kasra like al-qiṭʿah, al-filthah, al-fudrah, al-kisfah, and al-khirqah, and what cannot be counted, and Al-Sāghānī narrated similarly, and like al-biḍʿah is al-habrah, which is also with fatha.
ويقال: فلان بضعة من فلان يذهب به إلى التشبيه.
And it is said: 'So-and-so is a piece of so-and-so', referring to resemblance.
فاطمة بضعة مني، يريبني ما رابها، ويؤذيني ما آذاها.
Fatima is a piece of me; what troubles her troubles me, and what harms her harms me.
وبضع لحام في إهاب مقدد
And a piece of meat in a tanned hide.
ندهدق بضع اللحم للباع والندى ... وبعضهم تغلى بذم مناقعه
We tear off pieces of meat for generosity and giving... and some of them boil with dispraise of their sources.
