And it was said: 'Al-Wakhth from Al-Qateer is the scattering. Or' it mixed with it: his gray hair spread, or his black and white became equal, and so-and-so 'wakhatha' (verb form) as in 'an'a', if his head turned gray, then he is 'mowkhoot'.

والوخط: كالوعد: الإسراع في السير، لغة في الوخد بالدال، وقد وخط في السير يخط، نقله الجوهري.

And Al-Wakhth: like Al-Wa'd: is hastening in the journey, a dialectal variant of Al-Wakhd with the letter Dal, and he 'wakhatha' in the journey 'yakhuṭu', as transmitted by Al-Jawhari.

And Al-Wakhth: is entering, and from it is Al-Meykhath which the author mentioned later.

والوخط: الطعن الخفيف ليس بالنافذ، وقيل: هو أن يخالط الجوف.

And Al-Wakhth: is a light stab that is not penetrating, and it was said: it is mixing with the gut.

إذا خالطت الطعنة الجوف ولم تنفذ فذلك الوخض {والوخط.

If the stab mixed with the gut and did not penetrate, then that is Al-Wakhḍ and Al-Wakhth.

وخطه بالرمح ووخضه، أو {الوخط: الطعن النافذ، كما في الصحاح.

He stabbed it with the spear and pierced it, or Al-Wakhth: is a penetrating stab, as in Sahah.

And Al-Wakhth: is to profit in a sale once, and lose another time.

وقال الليث: الوخط: الضرب بالسيف تناولا من بعيد.

And Al-Layth said: Al-Wakhth: is striking with a sword, reaching from afar.

قال الأزهري: لم أسمع لغير الليث في تفسير الوخط أنه الضرب بالسيف، قال: وأراه أراد أنه يتناوله بذبابه طعنا لا ضربا، وقد {وخط، كعني، يوخط وخطا.

Al-Azhari said: I have not heard from anyone other than Al-Layth interpreting Al-Wakhth as striking with a sword, he said: and I think he meant that he strikes it with its tip, stabbing not striking, and he 'wakhatha', as in 'an'a', 'yawkhiṭu' 'wakhthan'.

والميخط بالكسر، أي كمنبر: الداخل وأنشد الأصمعي: مستلحق رجع التوالي ميخطه

And Al-Meykhath with kasra, i.e., like 'minbar': the one who enters, and Al-Asma'i recited: catching up, he returned his entrant.

الوخاط، كشداد: الظليم السريع الخطو الواسعه، وكذلك بعير} وخاط.

And Ibn Duraid said: a female bird 'wakhṭ', if it surpasses the stage of chicks and becomes like young roosters.

ويقال: بها {وخط من وحش، ووخز، أي نبذ منها، وهو مجاز.

And it is said: there is in it 'wakhth' of wild animals, and 'wakhz', meaning a scattering of them, and this is metaphorical.
