And from it is the hadith: The prayer of the penitent when the young camels feel the heat of the sun from the midday heat, meaning when the young camel finds the sun's heat from the ramḍāʾ.
هو أن تحمى الرمضاء، وهي الرمل، فتبرك الفصال من شدة حرها وإحراقها أخفافها
It is that the ramḍāʾ, which is the sand, becomes hot, so the young camels lie down from its intensity and its burning of their hooves.
يقال أيضا: رمضت الغنم، إذا رعت في شدة الحر فقرحت أكبادها وحبنت رئاتها
It is also said: The sheep were affected by heat, if they grazed in intense heat, causing their livers to become inflamed and their lungs to swell.
رمض الراعي الغنم يرمضها رمضا: رعاها في الرمضاء، وأربضها عليها
The shepherd grazed the sheep intensely, grazing them in the ramḍāʾ and making them lie down upon it.
عليك الظلف من الأرض لا ترمضها

قال سيبويه: ومما لا يكون العمل إلا فيه كله المحرم وصفر، يريد أن الاسم العلم يتناوله اللفظ كله
Sībawayh said: And among those for which the action is only within them entirely are al-Muḥarram and Ṣafar, meaning the proper noun encompasses the entire utterance.
أرمضه حتى أمرضه، أي أوجعه، وهو مأخوذ من قولهم: أرمضه الحر، أي أحرقه
It pained him until it made him sick, meaning it hurt him, and it is derived from their saying: The heat pained him, meaning it burned him.
أرمض الحر القوم: اشتد عليهم، كذا في الجمهرة، وليس فيها فآذاهم
The heat intensified for the people: it became severe for them, as stated in al-Jumhara, and it does not include 'and harmed them'.
ويقال: غوروا بنا فقد أرمضتمونا، أي أنيخوا بنا في الهاجرة
And it is said: Travel with us, for you have caused us distress, meaning make us dismount with us in the midday heat.
رمضته ترميضا: انتظرته شيا، كذا في الصحاح، والعباب، وهو قول الكسائي
To wait for him for a short while, as stated in al-Ṣiḥāḥ and al-ʿUbāb, and this is the saying of al-Kisāʾī.

To wait for him for a while and then leave.

To intend the fast: to have the intention for it, as narrated by al-Ṣāghānī.

And from that: I felt a burning sensation from this matter, and I felt heat for it and from it, and I was distressed, as in al-Asās.
والرمضية، محركة: آخر المير وذلك حين تحترق وهي بعد الدثئية
And al-ramḍiyyah, with vowel movement: the end of the milk, which is when it becomes hot while still being dath'iyyah.
والرميض والمرموض: الشواء الكبيس، وهو قريب من الحنيذ غير أن الحنيذ يكسر ثم يوقد فوقه
And al-ramīḍ and al-marmūḍ: the roasted meat, which is similar to al-ḥanīdh, except that al-ḥanīdh is broken and then cooked over it.
