He said: And it is said: Has a seeker approached you, and a habish habasha inquired of them whether anyone had arrived in their land other than those already there.
وقال الجوهري: الهباشة، بالضم: الحباشة، وهو ما جمع من الناس والمال، والجمع هباشات.
Al-Jauhari said: Al-habasha, with damma, is al-habasha, which is what is gathered of people and wealth, and its plural is habashat.
وإن المجلس ليجمع هباشات وحباشات من الناس، أي أناسا ليسوا من قبيلة واحدة.
And indeed the gathering brings together habashat and habashat of people, meaning people not from one tribe.
والهباش، ككتان: الكسوب الجموع المحتال لعياله، عن الليث.
