يريد أنها ذهبت بإبلهم فلم يكن لهم ما يحتملون عليه، ففكوا الهوادج واستوقدوا بحطبها، من الجهد.

He means that [the year] took away their camels, so they had nothing to carry them, thus they dismantled the litters and used their wood for fuel, out of hardship.

والقعش: هدم البناء وغيره، وقد قعشه، عن ابن عباد.
