والبيش، بالكسر: نبات ببلاد الهند، كالزنجبيل رطبا ويابسا، وأصلحه العربي، وهو في غاية الحرارة واليبس والحدة، يذهب البرص طلاء، وينفع من الجذام، مع أدوية أخر
And Al-Bish, with kasra: a plant in the lands of India, like ginger, fresh and dry. The Arabs improved it. It is extremely hot, dry, and sharp. It removes vitiligo by application and benefits leprosy, along with other medicines.
وربما نبت فيه سم قتال لكل حيوان، وأشد مضرته بالدماغ، ويعرض عنه ورم الشفتين واللسان، وجحوظ العينين، ودوار وغشي، وريحه قد يصدع
And sometimes a deadly poison for every animal grows in it, its worst harm is to the brain, and it causes swelling of the lips and tongue, bulging of the eyes, dizziness, and fainting. Its vapor can cause headaches.
وإذا سقي عصيره النشاب قتل من يصيبه في الحال، وترياقه فأرة البيش، ويقال لها: بيش يوس، وهو حيوان كالفأر، يسكن في أصل البيش، وهو ترياق منه، يقال: إنها تتغذى به، والسماني تتغذى به أيضا، على ما يقال ولا تموت
And if its juice is given as an arrow poison, it kills whoever it hits immediately. Its antidote is the mouse of Bish, and it is also called Musa's Bish. It is an animal like a mouse that lives at the root of the Bish plant, and it is an antidote to it. It is said that it feeds on it, and quails also feed on it, as they say, and do not die.

بيش الله وجهه وسرجه، بالجيم، أي بيضه وحسنه
