And 'Al-Tiyas', like 'shaddad': its holder. And from this is the saying of Abd al-Aziz bin Safwan bin Umayya to Abi Hadir al-Asadi: 'A time of holding back'.

And a 'taysaa' goat is clear. This is in all manuscripts. The correct reading is 'bayyinah al-tays', with vowels. It is one whose horns are like the horns of the mountain ibex in their length.

والعرب تجري الظباء مجرى العنز، فيقولون في إناثها المعز، وفي ذكورها التيوس،

And the Arabs treat gazelles like goats, saying 'ma'az' for their females and 'tuyus' for their males.

وعادية تلقي الثياب كأنها ... تيوس ظباء محصها وانتبارها

In Al-Sihah: there is 'taysiyyah'. Some say: 'taysusiyyah' and 'kayfufiyyah'. He said: I do not know their authenticity. In Al-Abab: the first is more appropriate.

وتياس ككتاب: ع، بالبادية، قيل: بين البصرة واليمامة، وإليها أقرب، وقيل: جبل قريب من أجأ وسلمى، وقيل: من جبال بني قشير، التقى فيه بنو عمرو، وبنو سعد، فظفرت بنو عمرو، وفيه قطع رجل الحارث بن كعب، فسمي الأعرج، وفي بعض الشعر : وقتلى تياس عن صلاح تعرب

And Tayas, like 'kitab': a place in the desert, said to be between Basra and Yamama, closer to it. Or a mountain near Ajā and Salmā. Or from the mountains of Banu Qushayr. Banu Amr and Banu Sa'd met there, and Banu Amr were victorious. There, the leg of Al-Harith bin Ka'b was cut, so he was named Al-A'raj. And in some poetry: And the slain of Tayas, far from the righteousness of the Arabs.

وتياسان: جبلان، وفي نص الأصمعي: علمان شمالي قطن من ديار بني عبس، كل منهما تياس، وقيل: تياسان: بلد لبني أسد.

And Tayasan: two mountains. In Al-Asma'i's text: two landmarks north of Qutn, from the lands of Banu Abs, each of them is a 'tayas'. And it is said: Tayasan: a place of Banu Asad.

والتياسان: نجمان، وأنشد ابن الأعرابي: (بات وظلت بأوام برح ... بين التياسين وبن النطح) يلقحها المجدح أي لقح

And Al-Tayasan: two stars. Ibn Al-A'rabi recited: (He spent the night and remained in Awam, unceasing... between Al-Tayasan and Ibn Al-Nath) The pollinator pollinated it, meaning it was pollinated.

وتيسي، بالكسر: كلمة تقال في معنى إبطال الشيء وتكذيبه والتكذيب به، ومنه حديث أبي أيوب أنه ذكر الغول فقال: قل لها: تيسي جعار، فكأنه قال لها: كذبت يا خارئة، قال: والعامة تغير هذا اللفظ وتقول: طيزي. تبدل من الطاء تاء، ومن السين زايا، لتقارب ما بين هذه الحروف من المخارج.

And 'Taysi', with kasra: a word used to mean invalidating something, refuting it, or denying it. From this is the hadith of Abu Ayyub, when he mentioned the ghoul, he said: Say to her: 'Taysi Ja'ar', as if he said to her: 'You lie, you sorceress'. He said: The common people change this word and say: 'Tizi'. They change the 't' to 't', and the 's' to 'z', due to the proximity of these letters in articulation.

وقال أبو زيد: يقال: احمقي - وتيسي للرجل إذا تكلم بحمق أو بما لا يشبه شيئا.

Abu Zayd said: It is said: 'Ihmaqi - wa taysi' to a man when he speaks foolishly or nonsensically.

تيسي: لعبة. وقيل: سبة. وقال ابن السكيت: تشتم المرأة فيقال: قومي جعار، وتشبه بالضبع، ويقال للضبع: تيسي جعار، ويقال: اذهبي لكاع وذفار وبطار وجعار، معدولة من جاعرة، وهو الحدث، معناه كوني كالتيس في حمقه يا ضبع، مثل في الأحمق، قاله الزمخشري.

'Taysi': a game. Or an insult. Ibn Al-Sikkit said: A woman is insulted by saying: 'Stand up, Ja'ar', and likened to a hyena. And it is said to the hyena: 'Taysi Ja'ar'. And it is said: 'Go, Lakā', Dhufār', 'Biṭār', and 'Ja'ar', derived from 'jā'irah', which is the event. The meaning is: 'Be like the male goat in its foolishness, O hyena', an example for the foolish, said Al-Zamakhshari.

وتس تس، بكسرهما: زجر للتيس ليرجع. عن ابن فارس.

And 'tas tas', with kasra for both: a call to a male goat to make it return. From Ibn Faris.

يقال: تيس الرجل فرسه وكذلك جمله، إذا راضه وذلله، وكذلك خيسه، وهو مجاز.

It is said: 'Tays' a man's horse and his camel, if he tames and subdues it. Likewise 'khaysahu'. This is metaphorical.

من المجاز: استتيست العنز: صارت كهو، أي كالتيس، قال ثعلب: ولا يقال: استتاست، يضرب للذليل يتعزز، كما يقال: استنوق الجمل.

Metaphorically: 'Istaytasat al-'anaz': the female goat became like him, i.e., like the male goat. Tha'lab said: It is not said 'istāsat'. It is used for the humiliated who tries to assert himself, just as it is said 'istanawqa al-jamal' (the camel became like a female camel).

من المجاز: بينهم المتايسة والتياس، بالكسر: الممارسة والمكايسة والمدافعة. وقد تايس قرنه، إذا مارسه، قاله الزمخشري وابن عباد.

Metaphorically: Among them is 'al-mutayasa' and 'al-tiyas', with kasra: mutual dealing, discussion, and contention. And one 'tayasa' his peer, if he dealt with him. Said Al-Zamakhshari and Ibn 'Abbad.

ومما يستدرك عليه: تاس الجدي: صار تيسا، عن الهجري.

وتيسه عن كذا، إذا رده عنه. وأبطل قوله، وقد جاء في حديث علي رضي الله عنه: والله لأتيسنهم عن ذلك.

And 'Taysahu' from something, if he turns him away from it. And he invalidates his statement. And it came in the hadith of Ali, may God be pleased with him: 'By God, I will deter them from that'.

وتتايس الماء: تناطح موجه، وهو مجاز.
