So-and-so struck him ('nakazahu'): he hit and pushed, which Al-Jawhari transmitted from Al-Asma'i.

في التكملة: نكز: نكص.

In Al-Takmilah: 'Nakaza': means 'nakasa' (to retreat).

والنكز، بالكسر: الرذال، والذي في التكملة: الرذل، أي من المال والناس، وكأنه لغة في النقز.

And 'Al-nakz', with the kasra: the base ones, and what is in Al-Takmilah: the base one, meaning from wealth and people, and it is as if it were a variant of 'al-naqz'.

And Shammir said: 'Al-nakaz': is a snake whose tail is not known from its head, and it does not bite except with a 'nakz', meaning a 'naqz'.

جاء نكزا، أي فارغا، من قولهم: نكزت البئر، عن ثعلب.
