قالوا وعضاه اليستعور: جبل لا يكاد يدخله أحد إلا ويرجع من خوفه.
They said, and the thorny bushes of Al-Yast'awur: a mountain that hardly anyone enters except they return out of fear.
يقال: ذهب في اليستعور، أي في الباطل

قيل: اليستعور: شجر، وبه فسر الجوهري شعر عروة، ويصنع منه المساويك، ومساويكه غاية جودة، إنقاء للثغر وتبييضا له، ومنابته بالسراة، وفيها شيء من مرارة مع لين، وهو فعللول.
It is said: Al-Yast'awur: a tree, and Al-Jawhari interpreted Urwah's poetry with it. Toothpicks are made from it, and its toothpicks are of the highest quality, cleansing and whitening the teeth. It grows in Al-Sarat, and it has some bitterness with softness, and it is of the pattern Fa'lul.
ويستعور يفتعول، ووزنه عند سيبويه فيعلول، وجزم ابن عصفور في الممتع بأنه فعللول، ولم يحك يفتعول.
And Yast'awur is Yaft'awul, and its pattern according to Sibawayh is Fay'alul, and Ibn 'Asfur was certain in Al-Mumti' that it is Fa'lul, and he did not mention Yaft'awul.
وقيل في معنى قولهم: ذهب في اليستعور، أي في نار الله الحامية، كأنه يراد السعير، ووزنه فعللول، نقله الصاغاني هكذا.
And it was said regarding the meaning of their saying: 'He went into Al-Yast'awur,' meaning into God's blazing fire, as if Al-Sa'ir (hellfire) is intended. Its pattern is Fa'lul, as narrated by Al-Saghani.
