And I have seen the waḥrah in the desert, and its creation is like that of a gecko, except that it is white with red spots.

إِنْ جَاءَتْ بِهِ أَحْمَرَ قَصِيرًا مِثْلَ الوَحَرَةِ فَقَدْ كَذَبَ عَلَيْهَا

If she bears him red and short like the waḥrah, then she has lied against him.

وَحَرَّ الرَّجُلُ وَحَرًا، كَفَرِحَ: أَكَلَ مَا دَبَّتْ عَلَيْهِ الوَحَرَةُ أَوْ شَرِبَهُ فَأَثَّرَ فِيهِ سُمُّهَا

And the man was poisoned (waḥara) with poisoning (waḥaran), like farḥa: he ate what the waḥrah had crawled upon or drank it, and its venom affected him.

وَلَبَنٌ وَحِرٌ: وَقَعَتْ فِيهِ الوَحَرَةُ

And milk (is) poisoned (waḥir): the waḥrah fell into it.

وَلَحْمٌ وَحِرٌ: دَبَّتْ عَلَيْهِ الوَحَرَةُ

And meat (is) poisoned (waḥir): the waḥrah crawled upon it.

وَحَرَّ صَدْرُهُ عَلَيَّ يَحِرُّ كَيَرِثُ، (وَيُوحَرُ)، وَهَذِهِ أَعْلَى، (وَيِيحَرُ)، وَاليَاءُ مَكْسُورَةٌ، وَحْرًا مُحَرَّكَةً، فَهُوَ وَحِرٌ، كَكَتِفٍ، أَيْ وَغِرَ

And his chest harbored malice towards me (yaḥirru, like yarithu, and yūḥaru, and this is higher, and yiyḥaru, with the yaa kasrah), with malice (waḥran, vocalized), so he is malicious (waḥir, like katif), meaning he harbored ill will.

وَاسْتَضْمَرَ الوَحْرَ، بِالتَّسْكِينِ، وَهُوَ الحِقْدُ وَالغِشُّ وَالغَيْظُ وَوَسَاوِسُ الصَّدْرِ وَبَلَابِلُهُ

And he concealed malice (al-waḥr, with sukun), which is hatred, deceit, rage, and the whispers and turmoil of the chest.

وَفِي صَدْرِهِ وَحْرٌ، بِالتَّسْكِينِ، أَيْ وِغْرٌ، وَهُوَ اسْمٌ وَالمَصْدَرُ بِالتَّحْرِيكِ

And in his chest is malice (waḥr, with sukun), meaning ill will; it is a noun, and the masdar is with vocalization.

هَلْ فِي صُدُورِهِمْ مِنْ ظُلْمِنَا وَحْرٌ

مَنْ أَكَلَ الوَحَرَةَ فَأُمُّهُ مُنْتَحِرَةٌ بِغَائِطِ ذِي جُحْرِهِ

Whoever eats the waḥrah, his mother is self-slain by the dung of the creature in its burrow.

الوِحْرُ: أَشَدُّ الغَضَبِ

Al-wiḥr: the most intense anger.

إِنَّهُ لَوَحِرٌ عَلَيَّ

He is intensely angry towards me.

وَأَوْحَرَهُ: أَسْمَعَهُ مَا يُغِيظُ

And he made him angry (awḥarahu): he made him hear what provokes anger.
