نعر العرق ينعر، بالفتح فيهما، نعرا: فار منه الدم
The vein bled, it bled, with fath in both, na'ran: blood gushed from it.
أو: صوت لخروج الدم، فهو ينعر نعورا ونعيرا
Or: a sound of blood coming out, so it gushes na'ūran and nu'ayran.
نعر فلان في البلاد: ذهب
So-and-so went in the lands: he traveled.
والنعير: الصراخ والصياح في حرب أو شر
And al-nu'ayr: screaming and shouting in war or evil.

والناعور: عرق لا يرقأ دمه، وقد نعر العرق بالدم
And al-nā'ūr: a vein whose blood does not stop, and the vein has bled with blood.
الناعورة، بهاء: الدولاب، لنعيره، وجمعه النواعير، وهي التي يستقى بها، يديرها الماء ولها صوت، وهي بشط الفرات والعاصي
Al-nā'ūrah, with ta' marbutah: the water wheel, because of its sound, and its plural is al-nawā'īr, and it is what is used for irrigation, the water turns it and it has a sound, and it is on the banks of the Euphrates and the Orontes.
ومن المجاز عليه: النعرة، كهمزة: الخيلاء والكبر، ومنه قولهم: إن في رأسه نعرة
And from the figurative uses: al-na'rah, like hamzah: arrogance and pride, and from it is their saying: 'Indeed, in his head is arrogance.'
ويقال: لأطيرن نعرتك أي كبرك وجهلك من رأسك
And it is said: 'I will surely remove your arrogance, meaning your pride and ignorance from your head.'
والأصل فيه أن الحمار إذا نعر ركب رأسه، فيقال لكل من ركب رأسه: فيه نعرة
And the origin of this is that when a donkey makes a sound, it becomes stubborn, so it is said of anyone who becomes stubborn: 'He has arrogance.'
النعرة: الأمر يهم به، كالنعرة، بالتحريك فيهما، أي في المعنيين، عن الأموي، وبه فسر قولهم: إن في رأسه نعرة، أي أمرا يهم به
Al-na'rah: the matter one is concerned with, like al-na'rah, with harakah in both, meaning in the two meanings, from Al-Ummawi, and with this he explained their saying: 'Indeed, in his head is arrogance,' meaning a matter he is concerned with.
من المجاز: النعرة: ما أجنت حمر الوحش في أرحامها قبل تمام خلقه، شبه بالذباب
From figurative use: al-na'rah: what wild donkeys carry in their wombs before their creation is complete, likened to flies.
والنعرة والنعر: ريح تأخذ في الأنف فتهزه
And al-na'rah and al-na'r: a wind that takes hold in the nose and shakes it.
النعرة والنعر: أول ما يثمر الأراك، وقد أنعر الأراك، أي أثمر، وذلك إذا صار ثمره بمقدار النعرة، وهو مجاز
Al-na'rah and al-na'r: the first fruiting of the Arak tree, and the Arak tree has fruited, meaning it bore fruit, and that is when its fruit becomes the size of al-na'rah, and this is a metaphor.
النعرة: ذباب ضخم أزرق العين أخضر، له إبرة في طرف ذنبه يلسع بها الدواب ذوات الحافر خاصة، وربما دخل في أنف الحمار فيركب رأسه ولا يرده شيء
Al-na'rah: a large, blue-eyed, green fly, with a needle at the tip of its tail with which it stings hoofed animals especially, and it may enter a donkey's nose and make it uncontrollable, and nothing deters it.

ونعرت الريح، إذا هبت، ورياح نواعر، وقد نعرت نعارا
And the wind blew, if it blew, and winds are nawā'ir, and it has blown na'āran.
والتنعير: إدارة السهم على الظفر ليعرف قوامه من عوجه
And al-tan'īr: rolling the arrow on the fingernail to know its straightness or crookedness.
ومن المجاز: النعر، ككتف: الذي لا يثبت ولا يستقر في مكان، شبهه بالحمار النعر
And from figurative use: al-na'r, like 'kitiif': one who does not stay or settle in a place, likened to the stubborn donkey.
يقال: من أين نعرت إلينا أي من أين أتيتنا وأقبلت إلينا، عن ابن الأعرابي
It is said: 'From where did you come to us?' meaning 'From where did you come to us and approach us?', from Ibn Al-A'rabi.
ويقال: امرأة غيرى نعرى أي صخابة
And it is said: a jealous woman, na'rā, meaning loud-mouthed.
والنعور من الرياح، كصبور: ما فاجأك ببرد وأنت في حر أو عكسه، عن أبي علي في التذكرة
And al-nu'ūr of winds, like ṣabūr: what surprises you with cold while you are in heat, or vice versa, from Abu Ali in Al-Tadhkirah.
ونعر الرجل كمنع: خالف وأبى، وأنشد ابن الاعرابي للمخبل السعدي: (إذا ما هم أصلحوا أمرهم ... نعرت كما ينعر الأخدع)
And the man opposed, like 'man'a': he opposed and refused, and Ibn Al-A'rabi recited for Al-Mukhbil Al-Sa'di: 'When they set their affairs right... you opposed as the jugular vein swells.'
نعر القوم: هاجوا واجتمعوا في الحرب، وهو مجاز
The people became agitated: they became agitated and gathered for war, and this is figurative.
نعر إليه: أتاه وأقبل إليه
He came to him: he came to him and approached him.
من المجاز: نعر في الأمر: نهض وسعى، وقال الأصمعي في حديث ذكره: ما كانت فتنة إلا نعر فيها فلان

وفي حديث الحسن: كلما نعر بعم ناعر اتبعوه، أي ناهض يدعوهم إلى الفتنة ويصيح بهم إليها
And in the hadith of Al-Hasan: 'Whenever a caller calls out, they follow him,' meaning one who incites them to sedition and shouts to them towards it.
ونعرة النجم، بالفتح: هبوب الريح واشتداد الحر عند طلوعه، فإذا غرب سكن وقد نعرت الريح، إذا هبت، ورياح نواعر، وقد نعرت نعارا
And the na'rah of the star, with fath: the blowing of the wind and the intensity of heat upon its rising, and when it sets, it calms down, and the wind has blown, if it blew, and winds are nawā'ir, and it has blown na'āran.
وقال أبو زيد: هذه نعرة نجم كذا وكذا، ونغرة وبغرة، وهي الدفعة من الريح والمطر
And Abu Zayd said: 'This is the na'rah of such-and-such a star, and naghrah and baghrah, and it is a gust of wind and rain.'
والذي حكاه صاحب العين في هذا إنما هو التنقير
And what the author of Al-'Ayn narrated regarding this is only al-tanqīr.
بنو النعير، كأمير: بطن من العرب، قاله ابن دريد
Banu al-Nu'ayr, like amīr: a clan of Arabs, said Ibn Durayd.
نعير، كزبير، ابن بدر العنبري، وعطية بن نعير، محدثان
Nu'ayr, like zubayr, son of Badr Al-'Anbari, and Attiyah bin Nu'ayr, are hadith narrators.

قال الأزهري: نعرى لا يجوز أن يكون تأنيث نعران، وهو الصخاب، لأن فعلان وفعلى يجيئان في باب فرح يفرح، ولا يجيء في باب منع يمنع
Al-Azhari said: Na'rā cannot be the feminine of na'rān, which is the loud-mouthed one, because fa'lān and fa'lā come in the pattern of 'fariḥa yafraḥu', and do not come in the pattern of 'mana'a yamna'u'.
العرق النعور، كالنعار والناعور، قال العجاج: (وبج كل عاند نعور ... قضب الطبيب نائط المصفور)
The vein al-nu'ūr, like al-nu'ār and al-nā'ūr, Al-'Ajjāj said: 'And every stubborn one was split, bleeding profusely... the doctor cut the spleen of the afflicted.'
وجرح نعور: يصوت من شدة خروج الدم
And a na'ūr wound: makes a sound from the intensity of blood exiting.
وفي حديث ابن عباس: أعوذ بالله من شر عرق نعار
And in the hadith of Ibn Abbas: 'I seek refuge in Allah from the evil of a profusely bleeding vein.'
فجعلها كلها لغات وصححها
So he made them all variants and corrected them.
والنعور من الحاجات: البعيدة
And al-nu'ūr of needs: distant.
واعترتني النعرة كهمزة: أي وجع الصلب
And al-na'rah, like hamzah, afflicted me: meaning pain in the lower back.
ويقال: أطرت بهذا صوتا نعارا، أي أشعته
And it is said: 'With this, I made a loud sound, meaning I spread it.'
ونعر فلان في قفا الإفلاس، استغنى، وهو مجاز، كما في الأساس
And so-and-so became rich after poverty, he became rich, and this is figurative, as in Al-Asas.
وعامر بن نعير كزبير: أحد الأبدال بالشام وهو وكوران بالضم قرية كما في التكملة
And 'Amir bin Nu'ayr like Zubayr: one of the Abdals in Sham, and it is Wakwaran with dammah, a village, as in Al-Takmilah.
ناعورة: موضع بين حلب وبالس، فيه قصر لمسلمة بن عبد الملك، من حجارة وماؤه من العيون، بينه وبين حلب ثمانية أميال
Nā'ūrah: a place between Aleppo and Baalbek, in it is a palace of Muslim bin Abd al-Malik, made of stone, and its water is from springs, eight miles between it and Aleppo.
