It was narrated from Ikrimah that he was told: Al-Qaswarah are the archers, and the lion in the Abyssinian language is 'Anbasah'.
قسورة فعولة من القسر، فالمعنى كأنهم حمر أنفرها من نفرها برمي أو صيد أو غير ذلك
Qaswarah is a pattern of 'f'u'u'lah' from Al-Qasr, so the meaning is as if they were startled donkeys, driven away by their fright from hunting or other things.
وكان ابن عباس يقول: القسورة: ركز الناس، وهو حسهم وأصواتهم
And Ibn Abbas used to say: Al-Qaswarah: the gathering of people, meaning their sounds and voices.
القسورة من الغلمان: القوي الشاب، أو الذي انتهى شبابه، كالقسور
