وفنخر الرجل: نفخ منخره الواسع، فهو فناخر، كعلابط، وقال ابن دريد: الفناخر: العظيم الأنف.

And 'fanakhara' the man: he puffed out his wide nostril, so he is 'fanaakhir', like 'Alabat'. Ibn Duraid said: 'Al-Fanaakhir': the large-nosed one.

يقال للمرأة إذا تدحرجت في مشيتها: إنها لفناخرة.

It is said of a woman when she rolls in her gait: she is indeed 'fanakhirah'.

إن لنا لجارة فناخره ... تكدح للدنيا وتنسى الآخره
