وَغَدَرَهُ: شَرِبَ مَاءَ الْغَدِيرِ، وَهُوَ الْمُجْتَمَعُ مِنَ السَّيْلِ وَمِنْ مَاءِ السَّمَاءِ
And he drank from the pool: he drank the water of the pool, which is collected from the flood and from rainwater.
وَغَدَرَ اللَّيْلُ، كَفَرِحَ، يَغْدِرُ غَدْرًا
And the night became dark, like faraha, it became dark (ghadara).
فَهِيَ أَيِ اللَّيْلَةُ غَدْرَةٌ، كَفَرِحَةٍ
So it, meaning the night, is ghadrah, like farihah.
وَمُغَدِّرَةٌ: شَدِيدَةُ الظُّلْمَةِ تَحْبِسُ النَّاسَ فِي مَنَازِلِهِمْ وَكُنِّهِمْ فَيَغْدِرُونَ، أَيْ يَتَخَلَّفُونَ
And mughaddirah: intensely dark, confining people to their homes and shelters, so they stay behind, meaning they are delayed.
مِنْ صَلَّى الْعِشَاءَ فِي جَمَاعَةٍ فِي اللَّيْلَةِ الْمُغَدِّرَةِ فَقَدْ أُضْجِبَ
Whoever prays Isha in congregation on a very dark night has earned great reward.
وَغَدَرَتِ النَّاقَةُ عَنِ الْإِبِلِ غَدْرًا: تَخَلَّفَتْ عَنِ اللُّحُوقِ
And the she-camel fell behind the camels, ghadr: she lagged behind in catching up.
وَغَدَرَتِ الْغَنَمُ غَدْرًا: شَبِعَتْ فِي الْمَرْتَعِ
And the sheep became full, ghadr: they became satiated in the pasture.
وَالْغَدَرُ: الْحِجْرَةُ، وَالْجُرْفَةُ وَاللَّخَاقِيقُ
And al-ghadr: the rocky ground, and the cliff and the soft mud.
وَالْغَدَرُ: الْحِجَارَةُ مَعَ الشَّجَرِ
