And we are subjects and they are shepherds, and were it not for their shepherding, the shame would be terrible.
وأنكر شمر هذا الحرف، وقال: إنما هو شنرت، وأنشد: وباتت توقي الروح وهي حريصة عليه ولاكن تتقي أن تشنرا
And Shimr denied this letter, and said: It is only 'shanartu', and he recited: And she spent the night protecting her soul, eager for it, but fearing to be shamed.
جعله من الشنار، وهو العيب، قال: والتاء صحيح عندنا.
