وزغر ككزفر. أبو قبيلة كنائنهم من أدم حمر مذهبة
And Zughr, like Zufar. The ancestor of a tribe of Kinanah, from tanned red leather adorned with gold.
وبه فسر قول أبي دواد: ككنانة الزغري غش اها من الذهب الدلامص
And with this, the saying of Abu Dawad is explained: Like Kinanah of Az-Zughri, whose adornment was of shining gold.
وقيل زغر: اسم ابنة لوط عليه السلام: ومنه زغر: ة، بالشام، لأنها نزلت بها فسميت باسمها، وهي بمشارف الشام.
And it is said Zughr: the name of the daughter of Lot, peace be upon him. And from it is Zughrah, in the Levant, because she descended upon it and was named after her, and it is in the environs of the Levant.
أخبروني عن عين زغر، هل فيها ماء؟ قالوا: نعم
Inform me about the spring of Zughr, does it have water? They said: Yes.
قالوا: وهو عين بالبلقاء. وقيل: هو اسم لها. وقيل: اسم امرأة نسبت إليها، كما قدمنا.
They said: And it is a spring in Al-Balqa. It was said: It is its name. It was said: The name of a woman to whom it was attributed, as we have previously mentioned.
ثم يكون بعد هاذا غرق من زغر
Then after this will be a flood from Zughr.
ولعلها غير الأولى.
And perhaps it is different from the first one.
وزغري الوادي، بالضم: تمر
And Zughri of the valley, with dammah: dates.
ويقال للحمار عند النهيق: زغره.
And it is said of a donkey during its braying: Zagharahu.
