ورجع بزوبر، إذا جاء خائبا لم يصب شيئا ولم يقض حاجته.

And he returned with 'zubara', meaning he came back disappointed, having obtained nothing and not fulfilled his need.

وزؤبره بضمتين: زئبره ، وهو ما يعلو الثوب الجديد كما يعلو الخز، وقد تقدم.

And 'zu'biruhu' (with two dammahs): 'za'baruhu', which is what covers a new garment like the nap covers silk, and it has been mentioned before.

And Abu Abd Allah Muhammad ibn Ziyad ibn Zubar, like 'Shaddad', Al-Zubari Al-Kalbi, attributed to the aforementioned grandfather, a Baghdad akhbari, narrated from Al-Sharqi ibn Al-Qatami, and Ahmad ibn Mansur Al-Ramadi narrated from him, a prolific narrator of poetry, but unreliable, said Ibn Al-Athir.

وإذا انحرفت الريح ولم تستقم على مهب واحد، قيل: ليس لها زبر، على التشبيه.

And if the wind veers and does not remain steady in one direction, it is said: 'It has no 'zabr'', by way of simile.

ولهت عليه كل معصفة هوجاء ليس للبها زبر شبهها بالناقة الهوجاء التي كأن بها هوجا من سرعتها.

Every wild, strong wind was drawn to it, but it had no 'zabr' (steady direction); he likened it to a wild she-camel that seemed to have a frenzy from its speed.

والزبرة، بالضم: الصدرة من كل دابة.

And 'al-zabrah', with dammah: the chest of every animal.

والمزبراني: الأسد، قاله ابن سيده، وأنشد قول أوس بن حجر.

And 'al-Muzbarani': the lion, said Ibn Sidah, and he cited the verse of Aws ibn Hajar.

ليث عليه من البردي هبرية كالمزبراني عيال بأوصال

A lion upon whom is a mane of reeds, like 'al-Muzbarani', with flowing limbs.

وإنما الرواية: كالمرزباني.

Rather, the narration is: 'like 'al-Marzubani'.

وكبس زبير، كأمير: عظيم الزبرة وقيل: مكتنز.

And 'kabs zubayr', like 'amir': large of chest, and it was said: stout.
