Al-Laythānī narrated: 'He has great little fingers', and 'She has great little fingers', as if he considered each part of it a 'khinṣar', then pluralized it this way.

My right hand became paralyzed the day I surpassed Ibn Ja'far, and its fingertips and its little fingers became paralyzed.
ويقال: بفلان تثنى الخناصر، أي تبدأ به إذا ذكر أشكاله

وخناصرة، بالضم: د، بالشام من عمل حلب
And Khināṣirah, with dammah: a village, in Syria, from the region of Aleppo.
وقيل: من أرض حمص، (سميت)، هاكذا في النسخ، والصواع: سمي (بخناصرة بن عروة بن الحارث)
And it was said: from the land of Homs, (it was named), as written in the manuscripts, and Al-Ṣawā': it was named (after Khināṣirah bin 'Urwah bin Al-Ḥārith).

It is said he is the successor of Ibrāhīm Al-Athram, the owner of the elephant, he succeeded him in Yemen in Sana'a, when Kisra Anushirvan marched.
وقيل: بناها أبو شمر بن جبلة بن الحارث، قاله السمعاني
And it was said: Abu Shammar bin Jabalah bin Al-Ḥārith built it, Al-Sam'ānī said.
وبها مرض عمر بن عبد العزيز، ومات بدير سمعان
And 'Umar bin 'Abd al-'Aziz fell ill there, and died in Dayr Sam'ān.
وجمعها جران العود الشاعر اعتبارا (بما حولها)، فقال:
And Jurān al-'Ūd, the poet, pluralized it considering (what was around it), and said:
نظرت وصحبتي بخناصرات
I looked, and my companions were in the areas around (Khināṣirah).
