وَحَرْتُ الثَّوْبَ أُحَوِّرُهُ حَوْرًا: (غَسَلْتُهُ وَبَيَّضْتُهُ)
And I washed the garment, I made it white: (I washed it and whitened it).
فَهُوَ ثَوْبٌ مُحَوَّرٌ
And it is a whitened garment.
وَالمَعْرُوفُ التَّحْوِيرُ
And the known term is Al-Tahweer (washing and whitening).
حَارَتِ الغُصَّةُ تَحَوَّرُ حَوْرًا: اِنْحَدَرَتْ كَأَنَّهَا رَجَعَتْ مِنْ مَوْضِعِهَا
The lump descended, it moved downwards as if it returned from its place.
وَأَحَارَهَا صَاحِبُهَا
And its owner caused it to descend.
يَلْجَلِجُ مِنِّي مَضْغَةٌ لَا يُحِيرُهَا
A morsel is stuck in me that he cannot make descend.
وَالبَاطِلُ فِي حُورٍ: أَيْ (فِي) نَقْصٍ وَرُجُوعٍ
And falsehood is in a state of deficiency and return.
وَذَهَبَ فُلَانٌ فِي الحِوَارِ وَالبَوَارِ
And so-and-so went into ruin and destruction.
وَذَهَبَ فِي الحُورِ وَالبُورِ
And he went into deficiency and ruin.
وَرَجُلٌ حَائِرٌ بَائِرٌ
And a man who is confused and ruined.
وَقَدْ حَارَ وَبَارَ
And he became confused and perished.
وَالحُورُ: الهَلَاكُ
And Al-Hoor: destruction.
وَالحِوَارُ وَالحُوَارُ وَالحَوْرُ: الجَوَابُ
And Al-Hiwar, Al-Huwar, and Al-Hawr: the response.
يَرْجِعُ إِلَيْكُمَا ابْنَاكُمَا بِحُورٍ مَا بَعَثْتُمَا بِهِ
Your two sons will return to you with a response to what you sent.
وَالحِوَارُ وَالحُوَيرُ: خُرُوجُ القَدَحِ مِنَ النَّارِ
And Al-Hiwar and Al-Huwayr: the drawing of the lot from the fire.
وَأَصْفَرَ مَضْبُوحٌ نَظَرْتُ حِوَارَهُ عَلَى النَّارِ
And a yellow one, sacrificed, I watched its lot being drawn over the fire.
وَقَدْ حَارَ وَبَارَ
And he became confused and perished.
وَالحَوَارِيُّ: صَاحِبُ الحَوَارَى
And Al-Hawari: the owner of the game piece.
وَمَحْوَرُ القِدْرِ: بَيَاضُ زَبَدِهَا
And the froth of the pot: the whiteness of its foam.
وَحَوَّرَتْ خَوَاصِرَ الإِبِلِ
And she rubbed the flanks of the camels.
وَفُلَانٌ سَرِيعُ الإِحَارَةِ
And so-and-so is quick to respond.
وَالإِحَارَةُ فِي الأَصْلِ: رَدُّ الجَوَابِ
And Al-Ihara in origin: returning the response.
وَالمَحَارَةُ: مَا تَحْتَ الإِطَارِ
And Al-Mahara: what is beneath the frame.
وَالمَحَارَةُ: الحَنَكُ
And Al-Mahara: the palate.
وَالمَحَارَةُ: مَنْفَذُ النَّفَسِ إِلَى الخَيَاشِيمِ
And Al-Mahara: the passage of breath to the nostrils.
وَالمَحَارَةُ: قُرُّ الوَرِكِ

وَقَالَ ابْنُ الأَعْرَابِيِّ: مَحَارَةُ الفَرَسِ أَعْلَى فَمِهِ مِنْ بَاطِنٍ
And Ibn Al-A'rabi said: The mahara of a horse is the upper part of its mouth from the inside.
وَأَحَرْتُ البَعِيرَ نَحَرْتُهُ
And I slaughtered the camel, I cut its throat.
وَإِذَا سَلَكَتْ حَوْرَانَ مِنْ رَمْلِ عَالِجٍ
And when she traversed Hawran from the sands of 'Alij.
وَاللهِ مَا تَحَوَّرَ وَلَا تَحَوَّلَ
By God, he did not improve nor did he change.
أَيْ مَا تَزْدَادُ خَيْرًا
Meaning, he does not increase in goodness.
