Indeed, we have soft enclosures, a gift from God, Lord of the worlds.
والحظار، ككتاب: الحائط
And al-ḥiẓār, like kitāb: is the wall.
وكل ما حال بينك وبين شيء فهو حظار وحظار.
And anything that stands between you and something is a barrier and a barrier.
والحظار: ما يعمل للإبل من شجر ليقيها البرد والريح.
And al-ḥiẓār: is what is made for camels from trees to protect them from cold and wind.

And it is metaphorical, and it is said: it is wet thorns.
وقع فلان في الحظر الرطب، أي وقع فيما لا طاقة له به
So-and-so fell into the wet thorns, meaning he fell into something he could not bear.
فربما وقع فيه الرجل فنشب فيه، فشبهوه بهاذا.
So perhaps a man would fall into it and get stuck, and they likened it to this.
أوقد فيه أي نم. أي مشى بالنميمة الشنيعة.
He kindled in it, meaning he spread gossip. Meaning he walked with heinous slander.
لم تمش بين الحي بالحظر الرطب
She did not walk among the people with the wet thorns.
جاء به، أي بالحظر الرطب، أي بكثرة من المال والناس
He brought it, meaning with the wet thorns, meaning with abundance of wealth and people.
وجاءوا بالحظر الرطب، يقال للنمام والكذاب يستوقد بنمائمه نار العداوة ويشبها.
And they came with the wet thorns, it is said of the slanderer and the liar who ignites the fire of enmity with his slander and fans it.
لا يلج حظيرة القدس مدمن خمر
A habitual drinker of wine shall not enter the enclosure of holiness.
أراد بحظيرة القدس الجنة
He intended by the enclosure of holiness to mean Paradise.
وهي في الأصل الموضع الذي يحاط عليه لتأوي إليه الغنم والإبل يقيها البآحد والريح.
And it is originally the place that is surrounded for sheep and camels to take refuge in, protecting them from the heat and the wind.

The Al-Ḥaẓīriyyān are two hadith scholars attributed to Al-Ḥaẓīrah, a place above Baghdad.

And the time of Al-Taḥẓīr is an indication of what Umar ibn Al-Khattab, may God be pleased with him, did in dividing Wadi Al-Qura between the Muslims and Banu 'Adhra.

And Al-Ḥaẓīrah. is from the district of Dujayl.
والحظائر: ع باليمامة
And Al-Ḥaẓāʾir: a place in Al-Yamamah.
هو نكد الحظيرة، أي بخيل، كمافي الأساس.
He is stingy of the enclosure, meaning stingy, as stated in Al-Asas.
وقيل: قليل الخير.
And it was said: having little good.
والمحظور: المحرم
And Al-Maḥẓūr: the forbidden.
والحظر: خلاف الإباحة.
And Al-Ḥaẓr: is the opposite of permissibility.
وما كان عطاء ربك محظورا
And never was the gift of your Lord forbidden.
أي محرما. وهو راجع إلى المنع
Meaning forbidden. And it refers back to prevention.
وقيل: مقصورا على طائفة دون أخرى.
And it was said: restricted to one group and not another.
من حظر الشيء إذا حازه لنفسه خاصة.
From preventing a thing when one possesses it exclusively for oneself.
يقال: احتظر به، أي احتمى.
It is said: he took shelter by it, meaning he protected himself.
فكانوا كهشيم المحتظر
And they became like the dry herbage of the enclosure.
وأراد كالهيشيم الذي جمعه صاحب الحظيرة.
And he meant like the dry herbage that the owner of the enclosure gathered.
والمعنى أنهم قد بادوا وهلكوا فصاروا كيبيس الشجر إذا تحطم.
And the meaning is that they perished and were destroyed, becoming like dry trees when they break.
أراد أنه حظر حظارا رطبا على حظار قديم قد يبس.
He meant that he placed a wet barrier upon an old, dry barrier.
