يا ثارات عثمان: أي يا أهل ثاراته، ويا أيها الطالبون بدمه، فحذف المضاف، وأقام المضاف إليه مقامه
O avengers of Uthman: meaning O people of his vengeance, and O those seeking his blood, so the possessor was deleted and the possessed took its place.
لتسمعن وشيكا في ديارهم الله أكبر يا ثارات عثمانا
You will soon hear in their dwellings: 'Allahu Akbar, O avengers of Uthman!'
والثائر: من لا يبقي على شيء حتى يدرك ثأره.
And the avenger: is one who spares nothing until he achieves his vengeance.
لا ثأرت فلانا
May so-and-so not achieve vengeance.
يداه، أي لا نفعتاه
His hands, meaning they did not benefit him.

So-and-so achieved a sleep-inducing vengeance, if he killed a noble in it, as fulfillment of his demand.
لعلك لست بالثأر المنيم
Perhaps you are not the sleep-inducing vengeance.
أي لست بالذي ينيم صاجبه، أي إن قتلتك لم أنم حتى أقتل غيرك؛ أي لست بالكفؤ فأنام بعد قتلك.
Meaning you are not the one who makes his companion sleep; meaning if I kill you, I will not sleep until I kill another; meaning you are not an equivalent so that I sleep after killing you.
المنيم: الذي إذا أدركه الرجل شفاه، وأقنعه فنام.
The sleep-inducing: is that which, when a man achieves it, it heals him and satisfies him, so he sleeps.
ثأرتك بكذا، أي أدركت به ثأري منك.
I avenged you with this, meaning I achieved my vengeance from you with it.
ويجمع الأثآر
And it collects the avengers.
طعنت ابن عبد القيس طعنة ثائر لها نفذ لولا الشعاع أضاءها
I struck Ibn Abd al-Qays with the blow of an avenger, which had a penetration that would have illuminated it were it not for the gleam.
ويقال للثائر أيضا: الثأر، وكل واحد من طالب ومطلوب ثأر صاحبه.
And the avenger is also called: the vengeance-seeker, and each of the seeker and the sought is the vengeance-seeker of his companion.
المثؤور به: المقتول.

And the vengeance-seeker is also: the enemy.
لا تغمدوا سيوفكم عن أعدائكم، فتوتروا! ثأركم؛ أراد أنكم تمكنون عدوكم من أخذ وتره عندكم.
Do not sheathe your swords from your enemies, so seek your vengeance! He meant that you allow your enemy to take his revenge upon you.
