وبَأَرَ الشَّيءَ بَأْرًا، وابْتَأَرَهُ، كِلاهُما: خَبَّأَهُ أو ادَّخَرَهُ
And he hid the thing, ba'ran, and he hid it, both mean: he concealed it or stored it.
ومنه قيل للحُفْرَةِ: البُؤْرَةُ
And from this, the pit is called: al-bu'rah.
وابْتَأَرَ الخَيْرَ: قَدَّمَهُ، أو عَمِلَهُ مَسْتُورًا
And he prepared good deeds: he advanced them, or he did them secretly.
وفي الحديث: (أنَّ رَجُلًا آتاهُ اللهُ مالًا فلَمْ يَبْتَئِرْ خَيْرًا)
And in the hadith: (That a man was given wealth by Allah, and he did not prepare good deeds).
والبُؤْرَةُ بالضَّمِّ: الحُفْرَةُ يُطْبَخُ فيها
And al-bu'rah, with a damma: the pit in which one cooks.
وقيل: هي مَوْقِدُ النَّارِ
And it was said: it is the hearth of the fire.
والبُؤْرَةُ أيضًا: الذَّخِيرَةُ يَدَّخِرُها الإنسانُ كالبِئْرَةِ، والبَئِيرَةِ، على فَعِيلَةٍ
And al-bu'rah also: the store that a person keeps, like al-bi'rah, and al-ba'irah, on the pattern of fa'ilah.
يُقالُ: ابْتَأَرَها: قال فَعَلْتُها وهو صادِقٌ
It is said: he claimed it (ibt'araha): he said 'I did it' and he was truthful.
فإن لم تَأْتَبِرْ رُشْدًا قُرَيْشٌ فليس لِسَائِرِ النَّاسِ ائْتِبَارٌ
If Quraysh does not prepare guidance, then other people have no preparation.
