Al-Zajjaj said: 'lakunud' means: very ungrateful, meaning by that, (the disbeliever), and Al-Hasan said: It is (one who blames his Lord Almighty), counting misfortunes and forgetting blessings.
والكنود (: الأرض لا تنبت شيئا
And al-kunud: (is) land that produces nothing.
والكنود (: المرأة الكفور للمودة والمواصلة) ، كالكند، بصمتين، قاله الأصمعي
And al-kunud: (is) the woman ungrateful for affection and companionship, like al-kind, with two silent letters, said Al-Asma'i.
سمي به (لأنه كند أباه النعمة) أي كفرها (ولحق بأخواله)
He was named so (because he denied his father's blessings), meaning he was ungrateful for them (and joined his maternal uncles).
وأصله من قولهم أرض كنود، أي لا تنبت شيئا
And its origin is from their saying 'barren land', meaning it produces nothing.
