Parallel reading

وأحصى كل شىء عددا
And He has counted and encompassed all things.
له معنيان: يكون أحصى كل شيء معدودا، فيكون نصبه على الحال
It has two meanings: it can mean He counted everything as being in a state of being counted, with the accusative functioning as a circumstantial adverb.
ويكون معنى قوله: وأحصى كل شىء عددا أي إحصاء، فأقام عددا مقام الإحصاء لأنه بمعناه
And the meaning of His saying: 'And He has counted and encompassed all things' is 'enumeration', so 'عدد' stands in place of 'إحصاء' because it has the same meaning.
وقد يكون العدد بمعنى المصدر كقوله تعالى: سنين عددا
And number can be used in the sense of a verbal noun, as in God's saying: 'years numbered'.
والعدد هو الكمية المتألفة من الوحدات، فيختص بالمُتَعَدِّد في ذاته
And number is the quantity composed of units, so it specifically applies to that which is manifold in its essence.
وعلى هاذا فالواحد ليس بعدد، لأنه غير متعدد، إذ التعدد الكثرة
And according to this, one is not a number, because it is not manifold, as multiplicity is abundance.
ولا نعد فضله علينا أي لا نحصيه لكثرته
And we do not count His favor upon us, meaning we do not enumerate it due to its abundance.
إنما أقطعت له الماء العد
You have granted him only the permanent water source.
الماء العد هو الجاري الدائم الذي له مادة لا تنقطع، كماء العين
The permanent water source is the flowing, constant water that has an unending supply, like spring water.
نزلوا أعداد مياه الحديبية أي ذوات المادة المادة كالعيون والآبار
They camped at the permanent water sources of Hudaybiyyah, meaning those with a constant supply like springs and wells.
يخرج جيش من المشرق آدى شيء وأعده أي أكثره عدة وأتمه وأشده استعدادا
An army will emerge from the East, the most complete and best prepared and most ready.
وأحصى كل شىء عددا
And He has counted and encompassed all things.
من طال أمده، وكثر ولده، ورق عدده، ذهب جلده
Whoever's lifespan is long, his offspring numerous, his counted years few, his strength has gone.
هاذه الدراهم عديد هاذه الدراهم، أي مثلها في العدة
These dirhams are the equivalent of those dirhams, meaning similar in number.

عدة المرأة المطلقة والمتوفى زوجها: هي ما تعده من أيام أقرائها، أو أيام حملها، أو أربعة أشهر وعشر ليال

اعتدت المرأة عدتها من وفاة زوجها، أو طلاقه إياها

جمع مالا وعدده
