A man is harsh and harsh, as they say 'nakid and nakid and nakadan for him and jahadan', a curse upon him.

The plants were scarce: few, harsh, and did not grow tall.
والجحد، بالفتح والضم والتحريك: قلة الخير والضيق في المعيشة، كالجحود.
And al-juhd, with fath, damm, and harakah: scarcity of goodness and narrowness in livelihood, like al-juhood.
جحد عيشهم، كفرح جحدا، إذا ضاق واشتد.
Their life was harsh, like faraha, juhdan, when it became narrow and severe.

And the large sack filled with dates or grain.

Until you see the large waterskin being filled, and the evening travelers.
وفرس جحد ككتف: غليظ قصير.
And a jahd horse, like kattif: stout and short.

And it is with ha'. Pl. juhad, like kitab, transmitted by al-Saghani.
أرض جحدة: يابسة لا خير فيها.
A jahdah land: dry and with no goodness in it.
وقد جحدت، وعام جحد: قليل المطر.
And it became barren, and a jahd year: little rain.
أجحد الرجل وجحد، إذا أنفض وذهب ماله.
The man became destitute and lost, if his wealth was depleted and gone.
وقال الزجاج: أجحدت فلانا: صادفته بخيلا.
And al-Zajjaj said: I found so-and-so to be stingy.
الجخادي بالضم وتشديد الياء التحتية، أهمله الجوهري وقال الصاغاني: هو الصحن، كذا في النسخ، وفي التكملة الصخر يحلب فيه.
Al-jakhadi with damm and shaddah on the ya' tahtiyyah, omitted by al-Jawhari, and al-Saghani said: it is the basin, as in the manuscripts, and in al-Takmilah: the stone vessel in which milk is milked.
والجخادي: الضخم من الإبل، أو الضخم من كل شيء، كما حكاه يعقوب في البدل.
And al-jakhadi: the large of camels, or the large of anything, as narrated by Ya'qub in the variant.
وأبو جخاد كغراب: الجراد، وهو كنيته.
And Abu Jakhad, like ghurab: the locust, and it is his kunya.
