And some of the Arabs say: 'Indeed, you have brought forth something 'Aad', like 'maad', he said: and it means in all contexts: great.
وأد البعير يؤد أدا، إذا هدر.
And a camel bellows, 'ya'uddu' 'uda', if it bellows.
وأدت الناقة والإبل تؤد أدا، إذا رجعت الحنين في أجوافها
And a female camel and camels return, 'tu'uddu' 'uda', if they return with longing in their bellies.
وعن كراع: أدت الناقة: حنت ومدت لصوتها.
And from Kura': A female camel 'addat' means: she longed and extended her voice.
وأد الشيء والحبل يؤده أدا: مده.
And 'adda' a thing and a rope 'yu'idduhu' 'addan': to stretch it.
وأد في الأرض يؤد أدا: ذهب.
And 'adda' in the land 'ya'uddu' 'addan': to go.
أدته الداهية تؤده بالضم، وتئده بالكسر
A calamity befell him, 'tu'iduhu' with damma, and 'ta'iduhu' with kasra.
وإرى اللحياني حكى تأده، بالفتح
And I see Al-Lihyani narrated 'ta'aduhu', with fatha.
وكذا أده الأمر يؤده أدا ويئده، إذا دهاه.
And likewise, an affair 'adahu' 'yu'iduhu' 'addan' and 'ya'iduhu', if it befell him.

وكان لقريش صنم يدعونه ودا، ومنهم من يقول أد، وهي لغة.
And Quraysh had an idol they called Wadd, and some of them say 'Add', and it is a dialect.
وأد البعير في سيره يؤد أدا، إذا أسرع وسار سيرا شديدا.
And a camel 'adda' in its journey 'ya'uddu' 'addan', if it speeds up and travels with great force.
