تفرى الدجى عن وجه أقرح، وهو الصبح، لأنه بياض في سواد.

The darkness peeled away from a bright face, which is the morning, because it is whiteness against blackness.

وسوج إذا الليل الخداري شقه عن الركب معروف السماوة أقرح

And a dark night when the thick darkness split it from the riders, a known bright dawn.

The child's tooth qaraḥat: it began to sprout, and when it emerged, it was said: it emerged.

وهو قرحة أصحابه: غرتهم، وهو مجاز.

And it is the quraḥ of his companions: their emergence, and this is metaphorical.

بنو قريح، كأمير: حي.

Banu Qurayḥ, like 'amīr': a tribe.

وقرحان: اسم كلب.

And Qurḥān: the name of a dog.

ولا ذباب إلا وهو أقرح، كما لا بعير إلا وهو أعلم.
