And everything excessively arrogant is ṭāmiḥ, due to its elevation.

وقيل: رمى به إلى الشيء
And it was said: he directed it towards the thing.

Al-ṭamāḥ (like kitāb): defiance (of a wife).
وقد طمحت المرأة تطمح طماحا، وهي طامح: نشزت ببعلها
And the woman was defiant, looking at others, she was defiant: she rebelled against her husband.
والطماح: مثل الجماح
And al-ṭamāḥ: is like al-jamāḥ (unruliness).
وطمح الفرس يطمح طماحا وطموحا: رفع رأسه في عدوه رافعا بصره
And the horse ṭamaḥa, it ṭamaḥu ṭamāḥan and ṭumūḥan: it raised its head in its run, raising its gaze.

If you throw something in the air, you say: ṭammaḥta bihi taṭmīḥan.

Ṭamḥāt al-dahr, with harakah and sukūn: its hardships.
باتت همومي في الصدر تحضؤها طمحات دهر ما كنت أدرؤها

And al-Ṭamāḥiyyah: a water source east of Samīrāʼ.

And al-ṭamāḥ: is arrogance and pride, due to the elevation of its owner.
وطمح الرجل في السوم: إذا استام بسلعته وتباعد عن الحق
And a man ṭamaḥa in bidding: if he bid for his goods and moved away from the truth.
بحر طموح الموج: مرتفعه
A sea with rising waves: its elevation.
وبئر طموح الماء: مرتفعة الجمة، وهو ما اجتمع من مائها
And a well with abundant water: its collected water is high, which is what has gathered from its water.
