Al-Kisa'i said: Tahan: a fa'laan pattern from al-tahhu, attached to the باب of fahlaan and fa'laa, and it is scraping.
وطَحْطَحَ الشيء، إذا كسره إهلاكا.
And tahthaha the thing, if he broke it destructively.
وطَحْطَحَهُ: إذا فرقه.
And tahthahahu: if he scattered it.
قال الليث: الطَّحْطَحَة: تفريق الشيء إهلاكا، وأنشد: فيمسي نابذا سلطان قسر كضوء الشمس طحطحه الغروب
Al-Layth said: Al-tahthaha: scattering something destructively, and he recited: So it becomes casting off the power of the strong like the light of the sun, the setting sun scattering it.
ويروى: طخطخه، بالخاء.
And it is narrated: takhtakhahu, with a kha.
وطحطح بهم طحطحة وطحطاحا، بكسر الطاء، إذا بددهم إهلاكا.
And tahthahahu with them a tahthaha and tahthaha, with a kasra on the ta, if he dispersed them destructively.
يقال: طحطح في ضحكه، إذا ضحك ضحكا دونا مثل طخطخ وطهطه وكتكت وكدكد وكركر.
It is said: tahthaha in his laughter, if he laughed a low laugh like takhtakha, tahthaha, katkata, kadkada, and karkara.
وما عليه طحطحة، بالكسر، أي شيء كما تقول: طحرية؛ عن اللحياني.
And he has no tahthaha, with a kasra, meaning anything, as you say: tahriyya; from Al-Lihyani.
أبو ما على رأسه طحطحة، أي شعر؛ عن أبي زيد.
Abu Zayd said: He has no tahthaha on his head, meaning hair.
وأَطَحَّهُ، بتشديد الطاء: أسقطه ورماه.
And atthaahu, with a shadda on the ta: he made it fall and threw it.
والطَّحْطَاح: الأسد، من ذلك.
