And he shabaḥa him (yashbaḥuhu): if he stretched him out to flog him.
وشبحه: مده كالمصلوب
And he shabaḥa him: stretched him out like a crucified person.

It is said: the supplicant shabaḥa, if he stretched out his hand for prayer.
وعليك من صلوات ربك كلما شبح الحجيج الملبدون وغاروا
And upon you are the prayers of your Lord whenever the pilgrims stretch out their hands in supplication and depart.
وشبح لك الشيء: بدا
And shabaḥa for you the thing: it appeared.
والشبح: ما بدا لك شخصه من الناس وغيرهم من الخلق
And ash-shabaḥ: what appeared to you of the person of people and others of creation.
يقال: شبح فلان لنا: مثل

ولا تذهب الأحساب من عقر دارنا ولاكن أشباحا من المال تذهب
And noble lineages do not perish from our homeland, but rather the visible entities of wealth perish.
