باتت وظلت بأوام برح يلفحها المجدح أي لفح تلوذ منه بجناء الطلح لها زمجر فوقها ذو صدح
She spent the night and remained in a desolate place, the Majdah striking her with a strike from which she sought refuge in the shade of the Talh tree, which roared above her with a loud sound.
ويقال: إن المجدح: ثلاثة كواكب كالأثافي، كأنها مجدح له ثلاث شعب، يعتبر بطلوعها الحر.
And it is said: the Majdah: three stars like tripods, as if it were a Majdah with three branches, by whose rising heat is determined.

And it is among the Arabs considered one of the Anwaa indicating rain.

فقيل له: إنك لم تستسق، فقال: لقد استسقيت بمجاديح السماء.
So it was said to him: You did not ask for rain, and he said: I have sought rain through the Majadiih of the sky.
والذي يراد من الحديث أنه جعل الاستغفار استسقاء، وأراد إبطال الأنواء والتكذيب بها، وإنما جعل الاستغفار مشبها للأنواء مخاطبة لهم بما يعرفونه لا قولا بالأنواء.
And what is intended from the hadith is that he made seeking forgiveness a request for rain, and he intended to invalidate the Anwaa and deny them; he only likened seeking forgiveness to the Anwaa to address them in a way they understood, not as an affirmation of the Anwaa.
وجاء بلفظ الجمع لأنه أراد الأنواء جميعا التي يزعمون أن من شأنها المطر.
And it came in the plural form because he intended all the Anwaa which they claim are associated with rain.
والمجدوح: دم كان يخلط مع غيره فيؤكل في الجدب.
And al-Majduuh: blood that was mixed with others and eaten during famine.
وقيل: هو دم الفصيد، كانوا يستعملونه في الجدب في الجاهلية.
And it was said: it is the blood of al-Fasid, which they used during famine in the Jahiliyyah.
وجدحه، السويق وغيره كمنع: لته، كأجدحه.
And he stirred, gruel and other things like man'a: he stirred it, like ajdaḥahu.
وعن الليث: جدح السويق في اللبن ونحوه: إذا خاضه بالمجدح حتى يختلط.
And from Al-Layth: to stir gruel in milk and the like: is to agitate it with the Majdah until it is mixed.
واجتدحه أيضا: إذا شربه بالمجدح.
And he also drank it (ijtadaḥahu): if he drank it with the Majdah.
وجدحه تجديحا : إذا لطخه، هاكذا في سائر النسخ. والصواب: خلطه، كما في اللسان : وغيره من الأمهات.
And he smeared it (tajdiihan): if he smeared it, thus in all copies. The correct reading is: mixed it, as in Al-Lisan and other primary sources.
والتجديح الخوض بالمجدح يكون ذالك في السويق ونحوه.
And al-tajdiih is the stirring with the Majdah, which occurs in gruel and the like.
وكل ما خلط فقد جدح.
And everything that is mixed has been stirred.
وشراب مجدح، أي مخوض.
And a majdah drink, meaning stirred.
فنحا لها بمذلقين كأنما بهما من النضح المجدح أيدع عنى بالمجدح الدم المحرك، يقول: لما نطحها حرك قرنه في أجوافها
So he gored her with two sharp horns as if the striking Majdah was in them, meaning by al-Majdah the stirred blood; he says: when he gored her, his horn stirred in her insides.

And jadah, with two kasras like jaṭaḥ: a call to goats.
والمجداح: ساحل البحر، جمعه مجادح واستعاره بعضهم للشر فقال:
And al-mijdaah: the seashore, its plural is majadih, and some have metaphorically used it for evil, saying:
ألم تعلمي يا عصم كيف حفيظتي إذا الشر خاضت جانبيه المجادح
